Jagex eventually gonna allow payment for unbanning accounts

Just a little prediction of mine. For the first time in a while, they're allowing you to submit your account for "review" and it will get unbanned if they deem it was hacked when you macro-ed.

This + the inevitable decline in players/profit = we'll eventually be able to pay for our accounts to be unbanned.

Thoughts?

 

Didn't they do something like this before? I remember reading about how some people had paid for their accounts to be unbanned (not sure what offences they were banned for, macroing probably).

 

I can remember this also couple years ago.

They did this with negative membership. If you botted and got banned they put - on your account and you had to buy a card, couldn't use sms pin or anything, had to buy a runescape card to be unbanned.

 

lol can probably see this happening apart from major rwt accs, bans to casual players etc, I can see jagex unbanning for for $25 jagex game card

 

Don't see this happening. With all the money they're making off of mtx, the need for money isn't essential, and neither is bringing back banned players.

 

If this is true that's sort of pathetic and smart of them at the same time, great way to get some extra cash.

 

Haha I'd pay for some of my mains to get unbanned in a second.

alot of people would pay for accounts/banned pure's highly doubt they will do this though. They have many other ways to make money

OT: I'm not sure if I'm imagining but I do remember a thread a few months ago about a survey being sent out to all players asking what their opinion was on something similar to this. Maybe they feel as though with the declining state of the game, they need to do something to boost up the playerbase again/get as most money as they can out of the playerbase before calling it quits and stopping maintenance altogether.

Idk really. I feel bonds have and continue to make them enough money. Should this ever happen, we'll all know the game is officially dead then lol. But as long as a couple of their upper staff continue to actually care about the game, it'll do well.

Back in Classic they used to allow payments to get your accounts back, i don't think they'd ever do something like it again, they have said most would just re-offend and its too much risk.

 

They considered doing this before and collected a huge list of names of banned accounts for consideration. They sat on the list for awhile but decided against doing it.

It would be a bad idea for Jagex to do this (for them at least). The only reason people would consider paying to unban accounts is if they were planning to sell the account for a higher price, or the account had gold on it they could sell for a profit. If Jagex made it so the account were on a 'last chance ban' status and had the wealth wiped from them, barely anyone would pay for it. Overall, it would be a MASSIVE pain in the ass, and considering that Jagex has a policy of not reviewing bans under any condition, I would assume that this sort of service is hardly likely.

 

Lmao wacky races would be on this offer within seconds if he got the opportunity.
