Do you speak multiple languages?

Does anyone here speak more than one language fluently? I'm not talking about a few words either.

 

Besides English, I speak fluent Mandarin.

 

I am supposed to be able to speak French, either I'm a retard or all of my teachers suck (7th year learning), dutch, english & bulgarian (can even write and read a bit, followed a course for about a year.)

 

My first language is English, but I also grew up learning Polish from my parents and French in school. I can speak fluent in both English/Polish but my French could be better.

I speak portuguese fluently now, and my spanish improved in some ways and worsened in others. Portuguese is way different, with different structure and pronunciation for letters and letter combinations, so I find myself slipping into portuguese when I try to speak spanish.

 

I speak Dutch and English fluently.
Dutch is my native language but I prefer to talk English all day.
My german is also pretty oke, but not fluent.
Had Spanish and French for a while aswell but never could be asked to learn those languages.

 

English of course, I live in Canada and a lot of my cousins are in Montreal so I took French pretty seriously in school

Can speak conversational Spanish as well, lived in Mexico for a few months as well as a few years of classes in high school

 

I can speak spanish enough to get by... slowly...

 

Yes, Finnish, Swedish and English. Finnish is my native language however my dominating language is English lol, I'm fluent I guess in all of them but English is definitely the strongest.

 

I only speak English, however I am learning Spanish as Spain is a country I visit two to three times a year.

 

English, Spanish, and decent-ish German.

 

French and English fluently.

 

I only speak English, I want to learn Japanese later on in life.

 

Just so you know, the longer you wait to learn a language, the harder it is. I took 4 years of Spanish starting when I was 13 in highschool and I can still speak it well years later. I took 3 years of Chinese in college starting at age 19, and I've forgotten 99.999% of what I learned. I can only speak on a handful of topics, and write even less

It's one of the most rewarding and enriching things you can do for yourself, learning a second language. At the very least, it looks great on a resume, employers love bilingual employees.

 

It's something I've always wanted to do beyond the couple of phrases here and there that I know. I know enough French that I could get by as a lazy tourist but I would like to know it fluently. I've been interested in Latin as well - albeit a 'dead' language - it's very useful for random trivia and understanding of English words and their roots.

I've heard from a few multilinguists that the best way to go about it is to spend time in said countr(y/ies) and learn the language as if you don't know your first language - which can take some doing.. lol.

Then you have kids like this who just baffle me by casually learning a 15th language by translating from their 10th language or some crazy sht:

i can speak 5 languanges private just in my country, international just english languange sometimes I was assisted by translate. hahahaha

 

English and Spanish. I also speak Korean, but not fluently.

I can only speak english, but I know a bit of spanish to understand some of it.

Wish I could learn either german or russian though >.<
