Requirements for full/drastic username changes

The outcome of this thread isn't final, but will aid staff's discussion and even may bring new ideas to the table.

 

Have donated a minimum of $300/500
Have a join date which dates to at least 2 years prior to their name change request
Have 2FA enabled at the time of request and pass an IP check
Must not have TWC at the time of request
Must not have pardoned in the same year of request

 

Have donated a minimum of $100
Have a join date which dates to at least 1 year prior to their name change request.
Have 2FA enabled and actually verified by a moderator that it's real.
Must not have TWC at the time of request.
Be SVU.
Have attleast 50 vouches of some kind.

When their name gets changed don't mess with the UT but have their previous name visible somewere.

 

Disagree with vouches. Some users don't use the market.

 

I agree with Ghast.

My only concern is this; What stops someone from enabling 2FA, putting in a request, then cancelling it? Is there a way to stop someone from disabling 2FA on their own for X amount of time after a name change request was put in?

I don't see why having to donate a huge sum should be a factor, $5 is enough. Also a year join-date seems fine.

It seems fine the way it is.

 

If you've ever had a TWC / ban for something shady, this may hurt your chances or possibly make you ineligible to apply for a full / drastic username change.

 

They don't want 100s of people to try and get dramatic name changes and the majority of donors are 5 dollar donors. One year is really not that long of a time either I see tons of people with 20 post that have join date of a year.

Drastic requirements for a drastic change.

 

They shouldn't be a douchebag or have a previous scam, ever, even paid back.

 

I strongly believe there should be a post count requirement to ensure that the user is an integral part of the community/market. I would suggest somewhere between 1,500-2,500 PC and at least a 3 year join date. This can ensure no possibility of scamming (even with the UT some people are oblivious and naive). As per donation requirements, I feel like $200 is sufficient.

A drastic username change requires a dedicated member. If you think these requirements are too stringent, maybe you just don't need the name change. Remember, no one "needs" anything on Sythe.

100% entirely agree. This should be a new high donor perk.

 

Disagreed, I found that amount too high. I think even 50$-100$ donors should be eligible to change their names.

I like how that PC range goes perfectly with your post count. But what about my post count? Does it make me ineligible? I think post count might be pushing the requirements.

OT: I like the idea of at least $100 paid as a donor. But 300-500 is way too much, imo. Also, of course, you would have to add in that each name change request will be handled on a case-by-case basis depending on other factors not listed. That way you have a little more wiggle room, but of course you'll probably add that in regardless.

 

I disagree. There should be some more high donor perks, and I think this is a great example of what one could be. I understand the other side, that active members should be able to change them too, and tbh either way is fine; however, I just think this would be a nice high donor perk.

Disagree because firstly 300/500 perks are not very desirable. Secondly it would be horrendous for all of you plebs to change your names, people would wake up and everyone would have a different name. This needs to be a perk with extremely high requirements.
