We've decided to reboot this venture under an as yet undecided name and release it quarterly (every 3 months) rather than monthly - so as to fill it with content as best as possible - as it is possible to have a dry news month.

What we would like from you; are suggestions on what you'd like to see inside of it. As linked above, we've had staff/prominent member interviews, IRL news, Sythe news, user achievements, staff changes etc.


Post any questions or suggestions below and thanks for helping us out in advance.

 

Interview high profile members & staff anonymously about the real questions. No censor and anon so they can say what actually needs to be said without fear of backlash.

 

Really glad they are back, i just read some of these post, and i must say the quality is 10/10! very interesting and humourous!

 

This. A list of things to potentially ask:

* What do improvements do they think should happen?
* How do they think the site/staff are doing (no names) (no saltiness hopefully)
* What are they looking forward to?
* Trying to think of some more opinion questions but I can't; hopefully you get the point though

What to include in the newsletter:

* Much as RuneScape does the "Behind The Scenes" at the beginning of each month, maybe the newsletter could do a similar thing where they give a little insight as to some of the updates Sythe is expecting to see over the next quarter (please do this haha)
* Highlight any new rules / changes or anything of the nature.
* Highlight some notable accomplishments of some, maybe some good stories
* Etc.

 

I don't think the community is as active as it was compared to a few years back, things just seem to have gone really really quiet, even in the Spam Forum.

 

Hopefully we can change that

 

What's one way to rebuild a community? Promote one, and this is one of the best ways. Not to mention the CDT among other things Sythe has implemented recently. Sure, we can speculate why, and exactly to the extent of how absent it is; however, I think it's more productive to identify that is and start brainstorming and implementing policies, methods, etc., to try and rebuild and redevelop it

OT: Thought of another thing:

Why don't you add like polls to the post? They wouldn't be anything official of course, but maybe it would be to gauge some fun activities to do over that next quarter. For example, a poll asking what people would be looking for when it came to events that aren't seasonal: a hunt, a forum game that has more complexity (like the battleship event), maybe various game meetups (RuneScape events, League events, CS:GO events, etc.) You get the point

 

I am actually really looking forward to this.

This is exactly what Sythe is missing. I'm fond of reading the news, and this is a somewhat update on Sythe regularly or so and all in one, rather then having to look through the forums over all.

However I think it should be every 2 months, on the basis that it may die out/lack of interest to keep up with it over a 3 months period. (for users) If there is no relevant updates for the following month, simply state that there wont be.

 

Every 3 months sounds good, more time to work on it and more time for interesting stuff to happen to put in there.

CDT quits everything halfway through either way. That's why 3 months is a better idea, people have more itme to do stuff and maybe they actually are on time.

 

In my opinion, the worst part is the procrastinating.

You just need members who can make themselves accountable to time limits and it can run itself. (except from the obvious once every now and then issues)

 

Back 2-3 years ago Roary me and IDB ran almost everything alone. I'm guessing Roary is still one of the only active members.

 

Really liking the 3 month idea.

 

What do you think about the name being "Sythe Herald"? Not too fond of quarterly.

i think doing more interviews in general would be interesting. they're less time-consuming than writing up blobs of text and more interesting as well imo
