How do you become a successful live streamer?

Every now and then I get on twitch to do some csgo or osrs live streaming. I use obs and a webcam. Everything looks really nice. What do I have to do to become popular? Right now I'm lucky to have 1-2 viewers lol. Do I need to have better content, be funny, be better at my games, or advertise my channel? It seems like getting off the ground is the hardest thing. How do you do it? All input is appreciated. If you've had success as a live streamer I would appreciate pointers from your own experience. Thanks.

Unfortunately it's like most markets, if you're sat down under 300 people with viewers you're practically invisible. We face this problem a lot in the app market and it's fairly similar. It'll either cost you luck or money to get visible then, it's maintaining that position.

A few ways to gain a few extra viewers is to do follower giveaways and good giveaways, this will cause people to stay in your stream to see if they win, and use it to your advantage to hold them there as long as possible without taking the piss, and before you know it you have people coming back if they like the content. Then, you could mix this with viewer bots to increase your viewer count to appear more popular than you are. It's shady, but it's what counts.

Once you build an audience you're pretty sorted, the hard part then is to maintain good content and consistent streams i.e 5pm-10pm every day or something.

Below that, if you're just launching a stream and hoping for the best, you've got little to no chance of ever getting out of the invisible zone.

 

Your personality, the equipment you use, the music you listen to will all effect the quality of your streams. Interacting with viewers is also good, and as for you only pulling 1-2 viewers, it sucks but you have to keep streaming and hope to get lucky. Maybe someone will raid you one of these days, and you'll get a fan base from that.

 

You need to be a female, all female livestreamers are successful and get tons of donations, not just on twich but on other live streaming cam services as well.

 

If you're streaming, for example CS:GO, try to stream when there's no other really big youtubers/competitive players streaming (goldglove, nickbunyun, jw etc) as most people will watch them. Also, make sure you talk often and encourage people to talk in chat and tell their friends. As well as this, I've found that simply just advertising that you're streaming on facebook/twitter/youtube can help you gain a small, immediate audience

 

Be positive, have an open mind. Read chat and answer questions. Have good moderators treat your viewers equally

 

I know this is a late reply, but i can offer some good Intel here, especially pertaining to streaming CS:GO

CS is an extremely difficult game to go anywhere on twitch with. It's ruled primarily by the pros, and people who make it big by doing more giveaways than gameplay. The viewer base for CS:GO, unfortunately, primarily won't bother sticking around your stream unless you fall into one of the aforementioned categories.

That being said, it's not impossible. It's just extremely difficult.

Set a schedule for when you stream, and stick to it. Viewers like consistency. If you're streaming from 3-7pm one day, 9am-2pm the next, take 2 days off, then stream from 7pm to midnight the next day, you'll find it difficult to hold a stable viewer base.

Be yourself, and interact with the viewers you have. Viewers love interactivity, and for a game like CS:GO, try to play with your viewers as well. They love playing with streamers.

My primary game was CS:GO when I finally got partnered, and it took a lot of work to get to that point. Don't get discouraged, and keep pressing on. Persistence is what will set you apart.

Imo start making youtube videos first. If you are starting to get a viewer base with that you can move to streaming and your loyal subscribers will tune into your stream pure due to the fact that you are a "known person" in their eyes and they can interact with you.

Cuz almost no1 scrolls all the way down to see if there are some good 1 viewer streamers.

 

Its going to be pretty hard at first. I wouldnt suggest doing giveaways either until you have a steady 50-100 viewers at a time. Tell your friends, advertise your twitch on facebook, twitter, ig (whatever) When I told my classmates that Im streaming at 7, around 20-40 viewers would come. Not to mention that I did open my twitch thread here and I remember few peeps from sythe like ziggily, or zippy would come by and greet me. Until you get like 100+ VIEWERS I dont recommend doing giveaways before that.

Pick 2. Also, if you have been streaming for over an hour and are still <5 viewers, you are wasting your time.

Becoming successful on Twitch/Youtube is not terribly difficult if you know what you are doing and have enough time to consistently create content.

 

that is the biggest issue, most people dont know what they are doing nor are they able to put out content that people find funny

 

Being funny is pretty much essential, if you're female you're automatically granted a large number of views. As you can see, you don't need to be talented at all, you can be a toxic talentless sithhead, like brofesco

 

Best way atm to garner instant viewers is to stake on OSRS. You are guaranteed to begin racking up people who want you to either make bank, lose bank, or do giveaways

 

There's so many things that factor in to being a successful live streamer, I don't think there's a particularly a best way to go about it. BUT one thing's essential though, you need to have personality. You can play like shit and if you're generally funny, if you can get the audience hook with your jokes, you can go a long way. Shoutouts from big streamers would be cool too, getting exposure that way, and having the audience stay for your personality/gameplay.

It takes time and patience and its hard to become popular, but if you stream everyday and keep at it, it will happen in time. Everyone starts where you are, work hard for it and you will be rewarded.

I only really watch streamers that are uniquely funny. I don't like to have streams on in the background; if it's going to be up I want to be actively watching it. So my suggestion, be funny and be original.

 

If you have good equipment then I think you will go far.
