Is luring still viable?
Are people still stupid enough to drop all their shit?
How do you even get someone to take their shit with a complete stranger?
These questions must be answered

All you need is the ability to sweet talk someone. Luring requires no talent apart from someone with great communication skills, so in answer to your question, yes it's still viable, I did it a while back and don't think too much has changed.

 

What's changed is there isn't a bunch of dumb kids / people who haven't seen endless luring vids and clips

The problem is that they're all the same pricipe, take your stuff make them drop it for whatever reason show in trade and then make the victim unable to pick it back up.

Most rs players know how it works even if they don't know the EXACT script.

Not really. Although there are some lurers that are very persuasive that might get them an extra kill or some more items, 90% of the time it won't matter because the lure will work or fail depending on the type of lure or the target choice.

This. In 2007, luring was not as commonly known as it is today. Also, because there are so many people luring and people who know about luring, people generally would have to pick targets with less items/money, which means they learn about luring by being a victim of the lure long before they had the chance to lose big money to it.

I think it's ridiculous how many lures now require that the target drop their items. At least killing lures are normally clever...
