PM space

I've not been here too long, but have used like almost 1/10 of my PM box already. Is there any way except donating that I can get more PM room without having to delete my PM's. This is because most of my PM's are regarding questing service and I want them in future reference in case anything is brought up (I get people to PM me their passwords/orders etc on Sythe and not skype etc incase my Skype is ever hacked).

Donating $5 grants you 1,000 pm storage space. It's definitely worth it.

 

It sounds weird, but I don't like the look of the $5 donator rank, it looks cheap. Can you donate and get the PM storage without using the rank?

 

You can hide donor ranks in the rank manager.

 

^ Yep. You don't have to show that you have the rank. Additionally, you can just donate more for a better image, or, and this is what I do, I save important pms to a certain file and just stockpile them there. Over the course of 6 months, I only have around 20-30 pms in that file. After that, delete all pms

Also you can bulk download your PM's as a text file for save keeping before deleting them. I have the 1,000 inbox I believe and I'm still constantly deleting them all.

 

That doesn't provide authenticity though? The reason i'm not deleting them is reference in-case of a scam report or something, where a user potentially said I didn't finish his quest or something. This way i'd have proof with screenshots, linked to the PM's. Just an example and anyone could write it in a notepad or textfile.

I'll just donate sometime in the next week or so for the extra PM space.

There isn't really any way to get around it. If you're doing a lot of business even a 1k inbox will eventually fill up.

Having a record is better than nothing. Can't hurt your case

 

Deleted PMs are saved anyway for admins to view, so they are not gone from the face of the earth if deleted.

Does that specifically suggest deleted PM's though? It just says old, which could mean ones that haven't been deleted, but are just old.. I think we're digging too deep into this, just let an admin answer.

 

I'd recommend investing in an external hard drive, and keep chat logs, screenshots, etc categorized/backed up there.

I still to this day have the videos, screenshots, chat logs, etc. from trades/services I did dating back to 2011.

 

Thanks for the info. Can you clarify laptop65's suggestion, where he stated 'admins can see deleted messages'. Is this true?


Also- Are the saved files legit and valid proof? Surely they can be edited.. Or is it part of our own responsibility to provide valid proof and if found to be lieing, it becomes an offence ourselves?

Unfortunately we have no way of recovering deleted data (yet) - All screenshots/videos you take are valid proof. If there's a belief that there's been any edits done, we'll tackle that if/when it happens.

As for the PM exports, those are not valid proof. I'd recommend backing up screenshots of said PM's, and only delete if absolutely necessary, as we prefer to see the actual PM's.

 

Roary told me admins (or tech admins) can see deleted PMs. There was Richard's post I linked also, so...

They're small text messages, is it so hard to keep a hard copy so it's always there no matter if they are deleted or not? The admins seem insistent on keeping all data / records of everything users ever do on here (right to vanish policy), so why not record all PMs also?
