Runescape 07 Gold prices and predictions for the next 12 months

Hey guys, I wanted to have an open discussion and hear everyone's opinion on what they think will happen to the gold prices within the next 6 and 12 months in relation to Old School Runescape (07).

Factors to include which affect gold prices:

- Old School updates
- Bots and how heavily regulated they are by jagex
- RWT bans and regulation
- Old School Playerbase (is it slowly increasing or decreasing?)
- Glitches, hidden or public
- Volume of gold sellers/websites (i see new websites every week)

Last summer Gold prices were around double what they are now at $2-$2.6/m

Currently I see gold being bought at $1-$1.2 and sold at $1.35-$2.

What do you feel has affected this?​

 

I'm guessing gold will still go lower. Unless jagex does a MAJOR ban of accounts with a lot of gold on, I don't see it rising. There are just too many ways to generate money. Maybe if they make it so you can buy levels or something crazy like that with gold on runescape, then you'll be able to see a money sink.

 

I actually believe the price will rise at the beginning of the new year due to large updates to the game by jagex.

 

The price of gold is determined by those who buy and sell it, specifically preeminent merchants. Gold will gradually fall in price as more supply makes it's way into the market. These renowned merchants compete by dropping their prices, in turn, creating a domino effect in which others comply by also dropping their price, but still keep their profit margin. There was a period where lots of gold was flooded in the market due to a bug being abused for gold. That would explain the sudden drop. Price recovery is seemingly impossible.

 

- Old School updates

I'm sure they'll start to follow the path of RS3 economy wise: more methods that make the game easier and generate more money, which devalues the 07 mil.

- Bots and how heavily regulated they are by jagex

JaGeX will likely start to attack them in the same way they did on RS3, and botting will likely see a couple nukes. Could be more than 1 year though.

- RWT bans and regulation

Same as always, it's been pretty steady, for the most part.

- Old School Playerbase (is it slowly increasing or decreasing?)

It's increasing. A few weeks ago the logins peaked, so that 07 actually had more people on it than RS3 did. It's starting to see this more and more, so a combination of 07 becoming more popular and RS3 slowly losing people.

- Glitches, hidden or public

Same as it's always been. Glitches will come out here and there.

- Volume of gold sellers/websites (i see new websites every week)

Again, same as always. They'll pop up and disappear with a big one coming up seldom.

 

- Old School updates

The community of oldschool runescape is very volatile and it is unlikely that any major updates will occur just because of how unstable everyone is in regards to game mechanics etc.


- Bots and how heavily regulated they are by jagex

There will always be bots in runescape, there always have been bots in runescape, as to whether or not there will be future growth in the area is quite inevitable, if the gold prices are falling then people will have to run more accounts in order to compensate for lost $ due to crashing gold.


- RWT bans and regulation

Highly unlikely, jagex will always ban some real world traders but their game will die the day it stops yielding profit for cheaters. They can't afford something like this with the current state of the game.


- Old School Playerbase (is it slowly increasing or decreasing?)

I don't think the playerbase is really fluctuating currently, however it is very unlikely but we might be on the horizon of major updates in the near future that could make or break old school.


- Glitches, hidden or public

It's inevitable that there will always be another dupe or glitch in Runescape, regardless of the scale.


- Volume of gold sellers/websites (i see new websites every week)

This will likely never change unless Jagex takes an absurdly high non-tolerance stance towards RWT which has never really happened other than in the form of the removal of free trade.
