GE Tax as a goldsink - Thoughts?

Should there be something like a 3% GE tax on all items worth above a certain amount? The seller would bear the burden. I think the community in general would reject the idea, but it would help stabilize the economy to an extent

I think this is a bad idea, it's not like it'll effect the economy.

Good idea, i would agree with this, because rich players wont really feel that 3% and it probably would make big difference in gold prices.

However i think jagex should be careful with such updates and before releasing them they should really think about everything twice.

JaGeX are going to release RS4, and the new generation scapers will be like: "I miss RS3, I quit."

I wouldn't mind this too much, however I could see most people not liking this idea too much as they would be losing their precious gp.

I think this could work as a gold sink, possibly like how they do in Maplestory with a tiered tax system but for just GE transactions? Flipping would most likely end up becoming non-profitable for the most part though.

This could obsolete things like flipping, but taking gp out of the game is a great idea at this point.

I like the idea. People could always trade the old fashion way to avoid the tax. And maybe they could implement something like ikov has that shows who's selling it so you can pm them to buy it tax free.

They have this in Elsword where a shit load of currency enters all the time. It does nothing to be quite honest.

As someone who flips often, I don't like this idea at all.

Saw this on reddit a while back, I think it's a great idea. Would make the tax like .25-.5% though, so people aren't as deterred to use the ge, and flipping will still exist.

I doubt this will ever happen as there's going to be a serious backlash from people who use the GE to flip.

Would be really nice. I think it would help raise the gold price.

I like this. With how much goes through to GE daily, over the course of a day .5% would do quite a lot without screwing over merchants profits. They would bitch that it's less, but in the long run the gold their making flipping for a smaller percent profit will have more value so it may end up being the same thing.

I've seen other games that have this. At this point I would say its a great idea since gold is so terrible atm.

    >tax the GE so gold gets sunk
    >gold prices go back up
    >bot to make more gold
    >sell gold and do smiley faces because you get more money from RWT

It would remove gold from the game via legit players, people would bot more to bring in more money to sell, real players will be mad because they are losing their GP for no reason and the amount of gold in the game stays the same.

I don't really see a scenario where adding a GE tax is efficient or effective at sinking gold.

I've always wondered about a fee, but in the end it will just cause people to get upset.
