Why did gp drop so much?

Seems like it was around $2.10 or so then dropped to 1.50 out of nowhere?

 

There's a gold duplication glitch going around apparently.

 

Lots of things happened.Corp glitch, gold dupe, mod Weaths holiday.Also you have to take into anaccount that more and more gold comes into game.Combine everything and you have this huge crash :S

 

Yeah one major contributer is that a lot of people haven't been banned in sometime, meaning theres almost no major exit of gold. This makes it easier for gold to be traded, lowering prices further...

 

Bans have started to pick up again as Mod Weath is back, lets hope gold prices rise once again.

 

There was actually a dupe glitch people abused which influenced the drop in gold prices. I heard they sold MASS amounts of gold, dropping the price in gold drastically. I heard it had to do with rat pits or something. It ruined the price of gold. I'm hoping it'll rise again, but it's looking bleak

 

The only way for it to rise is to ban those coins that been duped in the rat pits. However, it's very hard to track that as Jagex themselves said. Even if they were to track the gold and delete it, it's most likely sold to someone else, and if you bought like let's say 2b gold from them and it got deleted, you most probably won't play runescape again and hence the gold prices will stay the same.

Gold prices will never go up. Because more and more are coming into the game every minute. It will never go up, only down.

Remember how you can buy silk for 3gp in Al karid? Then sell to Ardougne for 60gp? That's x20 your profits.

Now don't go quoting my reply saying OH THIS TAKES FOREVER. Trust me because I think there's someone out there, doing it 24/7 and he's turning his 100m into 2b at the moment, and someone is turning their 2b into 40b.

Lots of gold coming into the game through dupes, glitches, bots, ect.

 

There was a while ago 2 dupes ( 1 Rat Pits, and another one which wasn't released), Corporeal Beast Glitch, and a lot of other glitches/Bugs.

There was a rat pits dupe a while back, there's also allegedly another dupe that jagex hasn't found out about as well.

 

I honestly think it is just bots, like always the economy over time gets worse and worse, look at rs3. It used to be 2-3$ per mill.

 

Bots don't usually bring in gold, just items.

It's lack of bans of rwters imo.

 

The dupe which was patched, and weath going on vacation did not help the gold prices. Sucks there so low though, hopefully they raise a bit.

The dupe definitely drove the prices pretty fair down. They're now stable and almost seeming to start to rebound a tad.

 

It always fluctuates but I would assume Runefest bond demand on Rs3 caused 07 gp to drop
