Tried to make a purchase on PA today via paypal since BTC no longer accepted. They sent me a verification form. I filled it all out and sent in a photo of my holding the credit card I paid with, My ID, and sent in a photo of my bank statement and they still said it was an unauthorized payment and refused to verify it.... Lol.

exactly what else do they expect to verify it being you?

 

They wanted a 'utility bill' which could be the electricity bill.

 

And birth certificate, and 100 selfies from different angles, and you holding up pieces of paper with different code words, and you also have to send them your first born child if you want to make a purchase.

 

Seriously, PA has taken it a step too far and its fucking ridiculous.

You can have an account that's years old, fully verified, has tons of feedback, and has done tens of thousands of dollars over the years through the same payment method with 0 problems.

Yet they'll send you a form asking you for everything but a sperm sample. Email, digital signature, ID scan, debit card scan, proof of address, selfie holding ID, selfie holding card.

You'd think that'd be enough, but no. The agents will stall you as long as humanly possible, it can take hours. Maybe your picture is too fuzzy. Maybe they didn't like the document you used for the proof of address. You'll get nothing but long waits between canned responses.

I don't know if they whip the agents if they let a chargeback through, but its clear its some kind obnoxious stalling tactic. I'm just guessing, but I have a feeling they hope you just give up and they can cancel your payment if they consider it risky without actually telling you. I've spoken to multiple friends and they've all gone through the exact same thing. And now this thread.

There isn't a whole lot of point to using playerauctions anymore. There are PLENTY of gold sites on Sythe that are incredibly trustworthy, have much more seamless verification, faster delivery times, and pricing that's just as good or better.

 

I haven't used PA in years but I havent gotten any emails for more verification :X

 

It seems like a six sigma dilemma. Sometimes it's not worth the effort to avoid that final, minimum number of chargebacks.

 

With all the scams that happen throught the selling sites, I don't blame them for being strict on the verification process. I mean honestly, is sending in a picture really that difficult? I had to do it awhile back through their site and I didn't complain about it.

The only complaint I have with their site is the troublesome of people scamming the buyers. I feel the sellers should be heals more accountable. That's a whole other subject though.

I'm sorry that you felt burdened by having to send in a picture of a bill to verify who you say you are, but I'm sure it's for the greater good.

 

Clearly you haven't read the thread. It's over the top. I provided literally everything I own and it still got denied.

 

I read your post clearly. Like I stated before they made me send a picture of my utility bill as well and I did not complain.

 

Obviously you really didn't take in anything that he said.

He wasn't complaining about simply sending in something like a utility bill. He was complaining about the extremely invasive process that they make you go through, before they DENIED his payment.

Normally I'd side with PA, and chalk it up to them finding something sketchy. But I've gone through it myself. Verifying the same information over and over again. Only to be stalled for hours, given excuses, asked for things I've already provided, etc. Its not worth the time or hassle for that extra bit of security when there are so many legit sites. If they don't want to accept a Payment, they need to man up and just say so up front instead of jerking their customers around. Its extremely unprofessional.

 

Let me know what your PA username is. I can look into it, and message you privately why the extra information was requested.

Our systems are yes, over-protective.

But we have to be.

For example, the anti-RS account propogandists state that anywhere between 50-90% of account sales on sythe are scams (I have not verified this), whereas on PA, account orders that have problems hover at around 6% (still high in my opinion).

On top of this, the emergence of BTC on the scene has not brought about positive change in terms of regulation and due diligence for virtual commodities.

We do not offer BTC as payment methods anymore... why? Nearly all of the processors in the BTC space are now having their merchant acquiring bank accounts closed, funds frozen, etc. etc. and it all has to do with compliance and due diligence.

There are times when we ask for the added information because of shady dealings, and then there are times we ask members to go the extra mile due to items we find in our systems which warrant extra verification.

Someone may come to PA with good intentions, and have no desire to scam. However our risk management systems are so robust that we have the ability to track chargebacks or other "pings" to a person's eCommerce history from other venues.

Do I think we are overly strict?
Yes.

However, PlayerAuctions has nearly doubled in transaction volume across all games. Relaxing just a "little" opens up unacceptable risk both over time as well as for our members.

Case in point, a few years ago... we had one particular member who had a very high "internal rating". He had in fact been with us for many years. The long story short, is that it proved to be a very stinging lesson for us, that -even- with long time "trusted" members, follow policy and procedure and don't take the risk.

It is this mentality that has largely contributed to the ramp up in our growth. People know that when they come to PA "we do our due diligence", and will bend over backwards to keep all parties safe (Including ourselves, since we absorb fraud costs).


We may loose "good users" from time to time. But the amount a single "good user" contributes (remember, we make 10% off a purchase), pales in comparison to the potential loss we face of a "bad user" (100% of their purchase history).

Guys, for all the "shortcomings" that PA has... we have been around for now... 15 years (as of two months ago). We provide a service that isn't just for the "end user" in mind, but for the whole of an industry which says that "you must waste your time grinding in games, to keep up with your friends". We are here to help with legitimizing gamer secondary markets and to help publishers realize the extreme benefit of allowing users to "ascribe value" to their gameplay.

The only way to convince higher-ups, is to make sure we have everything in order.

Bear with us, because we do provide a lot more benefit than many realize, even in the midst of our over-strictness.

I reviewed the case with our Risk Management.

There is risk we are unwilling to accept in this case which is why we asked for the extra verification.

As I'm sure you guys would like to know more specifics, the OP would have to give permission for me to disclose them, otherwise... he can follow the instructions to unlock his account, and trade safe on PA.

In this specific instance however, the subject thread "PlayerAuctions lolol" would in fact only be justified if we didn't ask for further verification.
