the tl;dr is that we're becoming more strict about the sfa section. there are currently way too many crap posts in it, and we're trying to weed them out. your post wasn't utterly horrible, but it didn't add any stimulating discussion, so it was removed. also most of the posts you've quoted are 1-2 years old so not really relevant to the current discussion; im not gonna infract them ex post facto, but were they posted now, they'd certainly be infracted and removed.

This isn't a sfa thread. If we're going to follow rules, it is within the boundaries of said rules. Similar to the cancer thread you closed. It seems like you're acting out of self interest rather than imposing the official rules that exist. The premise of the thread which was stated in the title is what guides the thread. I can find many threads in general discussion similar to the one you closed. Also, the patronizing replies after closing the threads are unnecessary and undermine the professionalism you're suppose to hold. Whether or not you find the topics unpleasant, they do have grounds for discussion and do not circumvent the rules.

 

I was actually just about to post feedback regarding this, it should definitely be re-opened.

Well I tell ya what, that's a good way to remove the few new threads that are being made these days and discouraging people from making new ones. Yeah, they're dumb threads, but they're not spam. You're also chopping off content that could be used in a google search that would let someone end up here. Your super strict style of moderation would have been an advantage when this site was in its prime, but is a huge disadvantage in its current state.

i closed the duplicate thread that was in the wrong forum. the one in the right forum is still around.

@ ghast/blu, yeah, i was a little harsh about the cancer thread last night. sorry about that. i'll reopen it in gen disc because "health" in the sports forum seems to relate more to personal wellbeing (e.g., "should i consume soylent?") and not "the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries"

You infracted me for what I presume was my post criticizing this other guy's post. Are you kidding me lol? That was such a far cry from spam, I was saying that the guy has disguised his post by trying to make women seem equal to men, but in reality he was clearly making men out to be superior than women (by the way he depicted their roles in life).

...it's not an opinion it's an analysis of his post which is constructive. that is literally every sfa response to another person's post. mine was in no way different that's my point.

 

Almost everyone does this in sfa.. This place has become a joke honestly.
