Are forums an overall waste of time?

Well sythe isn't if you're in it for the market. General forums aren't either I guess since u join them because they are about stuff that interest u.

 

Moved to General Discussion since this isn't a thread really for intelligent back and forth debate with facts, rather a hearty discussion based more on opinion.

Have you ever heard of the phrase "time you enjoy wasting isn't wasted time"? A lot of ways people spend their time nowadays could be classed as a waste of time. Watching TV, playing video games etc doesn't really benefit you in any way (ignoring the very slim amount of ppl that profit from gaming).

When I look back at it yea it was a waste of time and my personal life is in shambles. On the other hand, I acquired a lot of trivial knowledge that most normal people wouldn't care for. It's not for everyone, most people don't care for knowledge/wisdom.

 

I agree with this guy. It seems like people do more time-wasting things (fb, netflix, ig, game, etc.) than anything that's productive. To me, forums offer a broad social online environment filled with topics to learn from and build relationships, and a market to develop a status and learn to make and manage money. More beneficial imo than the latter.

 

What's not "wasting" time?
How would you rather use the time?
Do you enjoy browsing and using forums? If so - I wouldn't say it's wasting time.

 

Definitely a waste of time, but what would you be doing instead? Sleeping? Masturbating? Probably not working or doing something of value. So who cares.

 

If you utilise them well they can help in terms of knowledge, proficiency in a certain activity or game, profit, friendships, different opinions etc.

Any forum of activity where the users are worldwide and differing in cultures and ages is a benefit to your general knowledge and opinions.

 

If you make money or a living off here, then ofcourse it is not.

 

No, I enjoy being on Sythe in particular and make some side cash off of it. Definitely not a waste, as I'm supplementing my income.

 

I don't think interacting with other humans (i hope?) is ever a waste of time

 

This thread was a waste of time, when all the people reading it have time to waste.

 

As a general rule; if you enjoy doing something, it's not a waste of time. This has limits per-say and while I'm sure people enjoy doing heroin, I would argue that is a waste of time.

Even so, even if you enjoy something, you need to balance it. I enjoy using forums like Sythe, playing video games, etc., but I balance that time with other activities. Balance is key.

So, no, it's not a waste of time if you enjoy it and it doesn't impede on other "more important" activities (ex: socializing).

 

I don't think so, if you don't enjoy using forums, then don't use them. If you enjoy something then it's never a waste of time, in the end we all die.

 

If forums are apart of something that you enjoy engaging in every day, then I would say no, they are not a waste of time.

Sythe especially is not a waste of time if you are using it at a business stand point.

 

Time you won't use here will be "wasted" elsewhere with something else so it's not any different from watching TV. I, for one, have learned a lot from being on this forum so it's been a good thing. I don't spend too long on forums though, not anymore.

 

what isnt a waste of time? Its all about finding a nice balance of responsible things and things you enjoy in life in my opinion.

 

i don't think forums are a waste of time because you can actually find interesting things in forums, learn stuff or gain experience from others in forums and also you could profit some cash from forums such as sythe! so imo i think forums are better than watching TV or just sitting on the couch scrolling your Facebook page or stalking people on instagram

 

I'm only on here an hour a week or so .
So I dont think it is a waste of time.
