So at the moment we have direct paypal donations which uses some sort of script to handle the incoming payments (I used RSGP when I donated through a bondholder as I don't use paypal period).

My suggestion is to have automated bitcoin/skrill donations as neither can be charged back so there is even less of a risk than direct PP.

The script probably wouldn't be to hard to port to these methods, and they're are lots of bitcoin bots about already.

Also, I suggest hiring a bond holder who can do UKBT <3.

    Thanks guys gimme your feedback!

I've been trying to contact Matthew, I'm willing to take BTC and WU donations for nearly free.

Skrill can be charged back, just fyi.

Bitcoin sounds like a good idea, but more so depends on whether Matthew/Richard are willing to accept it. Not due to any risk factors of chargebacks, but more so due to it not being officially recognised and all the risks that come with it. Depends if they are willing to accept that risk/and or can find a vendor to offload said donations for the same monetary amount.

If Bitcoin were implemented, they may need to be some sort of buffer fee (5-15%), as it can change in value at any given moment. However, I'm just speculating - don't actually know if it would even be considered or what not.

Also depends on if they can have an automated process for it.

For BTC for example it would need to receive the BTC. Calculate it to USD somehow then upload your donation.

Some Bond holders take BTC and skrill (I believe) And because of the method of these payments I assume they would charge a marginal fee, if any. Same with runescape bond payments for myself.

I wasn't aware that Skrill could be CB'd.
Bitcoin scripts can be easily developed theres people that have CS:GO key selling/buying bots for BTC. Buffer fee would be understandable, it's just nice to not have to wait about for a BH to be ready.

Has the rule changed that anyone can donate for anyone? I thought that bond holders were only the "official" donators but any current donator can donate in another person's name. If that were the case, I don't really see why any trusted person can't just take any other payment method and exchange it for a paypal donation.

I agree with BTC. WU may be a little harder to do, but who knows, worth looking into

But WU is no where near as popular as BTC, so I think only really BTC is worthwhile

I've contacted Matthew like 3-4 times about becoming a bond holder and expanding into some new payment methods. Radio silence, other than 1 post ages ago about there being some kind of waiting list.

Anyway, I'd also love to see bitcoin integration. No 5-15% buffer would be necessary. There are plenty of services that let you accept it and convert it to cash at the current price minus a small fee. Also its the most secure method with 0 chance of a chargeback, and Sythe wants to encourage its use. I remember him even trying to integrate BTC wallets into the site.

Yes, but, time value of money.

If it's an automated system such as with PayPal, then I'd assume there to be a buffer - unless they dump it for $ straight away, which is very unlikely due to time constraints, life, and everything else.

Of-course, if it's not automated, and simply done through a bond holder, then whether they charge a fee/don't is up to them; as everything would be done at their own discretion.

Yes, there are services like that. The bitcoin goes directly to the service, next morning $ is deposited into your bank account.

There isn't really any downside to accepting it, even directly. For one although the price might fluctuate +/- 5-10% during the week its just as likely to go up as it is to go down. You can't charge it back, which is a huge benefit compared to direct PP donations. On top of all of that, Sythe wants to encourage bitcoin over fiat currency.

Worst case scenario they sit on it and it goes down a little bit. All they're really out is a pixel rank.

The suggestion has already been approved, so hopefully this thread gets looked at. But it'd be unfortunate to see charging EXTRA money for donating with a more secure payment method. Even bond holders accept it at 1:1 or pretty close. If they decided to charge +5-15% no way I'd donate with BTC over USD.

I think wu might work because there is a fair amount of >18 people on the site who might be interested in a donation but not have a pp account / lots of gold , but maybe $50 lying around they got for their birthday or something.

    I definitely support btc though.

    Hi-

Bond holders can accept more or less whatever methods they want. Sythe.org, however, only accepts PayPal directly right now.

We currently have two bond holders which accept BitCoin. I would suggest checking with them if you're interested in donating using BitCoin.
