Small Update To Avatar System

I have 2 suggestions for updating and making the avatar system a little better:

Suggestion 1:
Make the maximum size for the larger avatar (Donors) 150x150 instead of 150x100. Simple, and would make it nicer.

Suggestion 2:
At the moment when you upload a .PNG with transparent pixels the system fills in those transparent pixels with white. Instead of this I think it would be a lot nicer if it filled in those transparent pixels with the background colour of the avatar area (#284059) or just allowed transparency within .PNG's.

The size allowed currently is 150x150px
Having it uploaded here will make it transparent.

 

See I didn't know about that thread, my bad.
It would however be a little easier if when you donated to the appropriate level it changed your change ava page, or maybe would let you do it through your UC?

 

We don't run in to the problem too often, but I'm sure a line of text wouldn't hurt if people think we need one.

 

Even though I am not a donator, I could see how this would make things easier.

I mean if there is a simple way to code it so that donors can change the avatar themselves to a bigger size, why not.

But if its going to be any amount of work, it's fine how it is now.

 

Not sure how difficult this would be to change in the system but it makes sense

why though? whats stopping us from having that ability?

 

It has something to do with special permissions and how VB is comprised IIRC. It's been brought up several times and Matthew has said it won't/can't be done.

Not only that but with an approval process, it isn't open to abuse and we can impose restrictions and limits.

 

As for suggestion #2, this only happens when your image doesn't fit within the dimensions. The site has to resize and condenses it down (I believe it converts it to a jpg which is smaller?) which eliminates its transparency.

 

Anything for helping the donors has my support, more avatar space = the better.

 

I've tried to upload transparent images at the correct size and it still doesn't let me have transparency.

 

Was the image a .png file?

 

Well thanks for the feedback, this will probably all be sorted when we move to XenoForo anyways.
