Paypal Chargebacks

Can someone chargeback if they make a payment with a paypal gift card?

Like the ones you buy in-store?

If so, what steps should I take to prevent a chargeback?

 

I'm pretty sure gifts cant be chargebacked (not 100% sure) Just make sure you have a lot of proof, paypal favors buyers more than sellers.

Make sure they buy with cash because if they pay with cc and cancel it who knows what could happen

 

Even if they claim that it was unauthorized? How can you verify someone is paying you with a gift card?

That money is in paypal's jurisdiction, not your bank, nor your credit card providers. You can't chargeback money that is within their jurisdiction. You would have to make a dispute through paypal with the money placed on hold. Unlike bank/cc reversals, the money is instantly removed, not put on hold.

 

Ah, I see, it's semantics. They're not able to literally "chargeback" the giftcard but still reverse the payment back to them potentially with a Paypal unauthorized dispute. So OP, make sure they're not sending it on a VPN, etc if possible otherwise it could very well be reversed.

 

I have very bad experience with paypal, I wouldnt risk using it again. Check skrill.

 

All Paypal transactions can be reversed with the right amount of knowledge of how their support center works.
Always take pre-cautions with Paypal. I wouldn't take it unless you can trust the person.

It's possible, and you can't prevent someone charging back, you can only fight against it.
