Post rank remake?

Not that I think a change to post count rank titles are necessary, but change would be nice.

Current rank titles:

0-24 - Newcomer
25-99 - Member
100-249 - Active Member
250-624 - Forum Addict
625-999 - Apprentice
1,000-1,999 -Guru
2,000-4,999 - Grand Master
5,000-9,999 - Hero
10,000+ - Legend

Proposed change:

0-24 - Newcomer
25-99 - Member
100-249 - Apprentice
250-624 - Contributor
625-999 - Sage
1,000-1,999 - Veteran
2,000-4,999 - Grand Master
5,000-9,999 - Hero/Champion
10,000-19,999 - Legend
20,000+ - Emperor

Thoughts?

 

I think the current ones are fine to be honest. There's no real need to add more.

 

As are many things, including website layouts, but those are changed on a monthly basis it seems. I wonder why. It's not always a person's best interest to keep things the same forever just for the sake of it being "fine". If you prefer the current one, that's fine as well.

Are you talking about the 20k post rank title?

There are 2 people who can now qualify for it, and 4 others in reasonable reach.

Is that reason not real enough?

 

The only ranks that need to be renamed in my opinion are "Newcomer" and "Active Member" because they indicate a status of forum activity that could be completely inaccurate.

I get what you're saying, but a custom usertitle isn't necessarily a "must use", it's a preference. Well you obviously know that.

Out of the top 5 posters, 3 don't have a custom usertitle.

Out of the top 100 posters, the lowest being 4,270, 32% dont have a custom usertitle.

Out of the 32 posters who don't have a custom usertitle, 16 have the ability to customize their own, but choose not to.

It's not like my proposition only featured the addition of a new rank entirely, there are others that I also changed.

For example, apprentice which ranges from 625-999 is an oxymoron. Apprentice is synonymous to rookie, and rookie is synonymous to newcomer, which is at the very bottom.

Not that it matters at all, but again, change is nice once in a while. I won't knock anyones opinion, I'm just looking for feedback.

Post Whore should never be an official User Title.

 

Neither should 'Prodigy' tbh, or Overlord. And Legend should come before Champion...

 

Prodigy and contributor sound silly.

Don't personally see the need for change in regards to this. However, if anything does warrant change, imo, it would be donor icons. They should be re-made to match the overall demographic of this site.

 

What I'd love is for somehow your post rank to show up somewhere even when you have a custom user title. Maybe on the right next to referrals etc? Or on your profile page somewhere.

I don't personally see the need for a lot of things to change, but they do anyways. When you find the source for key performance indicators relative to your industry, you improve it to keep old, present, and new members engaged. The source for us is posting. I don't see this working out because most members have been conditioned to dislike change, this is in part with the site being archaic for so long. This is also why social media sites make appearance/layout changes on their own accord. I'm not opposed to the opinions of others preferring the current titles, but rather opposed to the narrative that "change isn't needed".

Universal donor icons would be nice.

 

Naming a rank "Prodigy" reminds me of that scamming fuck from fagex.

 

I like the Emperor idea, although the contributor one should be renamed due to the fact of they're not really contributing to the website via donating.

 

It's fine as it is. There is no reason to change it. If you are an old member, and have the Newcomer title, acquiring the post count required to change it won't be an issue.

Thread should be closed until OP can come up with a suitable suggestion that'll warrant a change to the current system.

Personally I think its a waste of time changing the ranks for post. I get that to some people post count I guess matters but its really not a big enough issue to have to change it. I don't see that many people caring or even looking at rank titles. No support

These terms in particular need to be changed since they are misleading. Some of the other terms like "Apprentice", "Guru" and "Grand Master" just seem like a weird family of words to describe post count as well.
