I believe its completely okay to be homosexual and legalising gay marriage was a big step towards acceptance and equality between everyone in our world. Religion shouldn't decide what sorts of people have what sorts of rights.

I myself don't see a reason for the ban on polygamy. If they are consenting adults, I fail to see a problem.

Now, some details would need to be worked out such as what happens if 2 partners want to leave the third partner (and other such scenarios) and would probably just be written up in a contract and signed by said parties pre-marriage.

It's very progressive to be pro polygamy, but wherever it is currently allowed, it is out of backwardness rather than progressive thinking.

I personally find it difficult to view polygamy as a next enlightened step in the process of complete liberalization. Marriage, again, to me, is in essence a bond between two people, regardless of their gender or race. Now there are two things in there: a bond, and two people. You can go on and keep stripping the definition of its components, as happened when gay marriage was allowed (which, I repeat, I wholedheartly approve of) but at a certain point you'll completely derive it of its nature. And for me that is when you touch upon either of these constitutional aspects, a bond and two people. Not between a human and a goat. Not between 3 humans.

Maybe this post will once be considered archaic, but even liberalization has boundaries, namely the essence and the spirit of the concept itself.

The issue with polygamy is a legal one. What's stopping you from "marrying" 4 immigrants in a green card marriage, all at once, for $1000 a pop? There are huge issues behind it that have nothing to do with religious or moral paradigms.

sorry im against it for religious reasons it's a sign that the end is near
the devil is working hard on social media sites, to encourage gay marriage and making it legal because it is against god, god flooded a whole city for a reason and thats because guys were with guys and girls were with girls.

if you read the bible it will tell you itself.

if you got nothing nice to comment please don't comment at all.

because it wasn't in all states?
    now it is.
it is now everywhere witch is a sign.

i don't need to answer these questions if you want answers please read the bible.

    1. False Bible teachers would be money hungry. They would be smooth talkers, have many followers, and slur the Christian faith (2 Peter 2:1-3) See some at: Fakemessiah.com

    2. Homosexuality would be increasingly evident at the end of the age <<------------ (2 Timothy 3:3)

    3. Earthquakes would be in diverse places (Matthew 24:7)

    4. Stress would be part of living (2 Timothy 3:1)

    5. Many wars would erupt (Matthew 24:6)

    6. People would forsake the Ten Commandments as a moral code, committing adultery, stealing, lying, and killing (Matthew 24:12)

    7. There would be a cold religious system, in denying God's power (2 Timothy 3:5)

    8. Men would substitute fantasy in place of Christian truth (2 Timothy 4:4). This is so evident at Christmas when the birth of the Savior is lost behind the myth of Santa Claus.

    9. Deadly diseases would be prevalent (Matthew 24:7). The worldwide increase in AIDS deaths is almost inestimable. Over 160,000 Americans die of cancer each year.

    10. The fact that God once flooded the earth (the Noahic flood) would be denied (2 Peter 3:5-6). There is a mass of fossil evidence to prove this fact, yet it is flatly ignored by the scientific world because of its uncanny implication.

    11. The institution of marriage would be forsaken by many (1 Timothy 4:3)

    12. There would be an increase in famines (Matthew 24:7)

    13. Increase in vegetarianism would increase (1 Timothy 4:3-4)

    14. There would be a cry for peace (1 Thessalonians 5:3)

    15. The possession of Jerusalem would be at the center of international turmoil (Zechariah 12:3)

    16. Knowledge would increase (Daniel 12:4)

    17. There would be hypocrites within the Church (Matthew 13:25-30)

    18. There would be an increase of religious cults/false teachers (Matthew 24:11 & 24)

    19. The future would seem fearful to many (Luke 21:26)

    20. Humanity would become materialistic (2 Timothy 3:4)

    21. There would be many involved in travel (Daniel 12:4)

    22. The Christian Gospel would be preached as a warning to all nations (Matthew 24:14)

    23. Jesus said Christians would be hated "for His name's sake" (Matthew 24:9)

24: And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. (Luke 21:25-26).

25: Youth would become rebellious. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy (2 Timothy 3:2)

26: Men would mock the warning signs of the end of the age saying, "for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation." (2 Peter 3:4). The Bible even reveals their motivation, they love lust (verse 3). They fail to understand that a day to the Lord is as a thousand years to us. God is not subject to the time that He created. He can flick through time as we flick through the pages of a history book. The reason He seems to be silent, is because He is patiently waiting, not willing that any perish, but that all come to repentance.

    first would be the rapture:
you will hear the Archangels Trumpet when the end of times is near it will be so loud everyone will look into the sky thus seeing our lord Jesus Christ.
rapture would be when god takes all believers up into the sky with him and leave behind those who don't believe.
    (kids will disapear)
    the dead will Arise First.

    (non Believers)
they will be left on earth to test their faith, they will be left on earth for 7 years the antichrist will be present you will have no food, no cothes, no hope, no nothing unless you get the mark of the beast on you.
antichrist will arise from his abyss taking all the souls he can.

Merely another example of how polygamy would denature the concept of marriage, unlike gay marriage.

My foundation for polygamy runs off I do not really care what people do. It is not my business to tell other people that they should not marry two people. The biggest problem I see are the legal problems that may arise from it (as Blupig pointed out).

I get what you're saying about the institution of marriage and how it is one of two people coming together. I have no idea how that institution could adapt to polygamy (doubtful it will), or if polygamy should remain outside the institution of marriage, but exist in a realm such as civil union. Something to give partners rights in the others life, ex: emergency room visits. While I understand your comparison of a human and a goat based off it not being and an individual, a goat cannot consent to something such as marriage and should not be compared.

Your Bible to non-Christians is nothing but a book in which - some - good values can be garnered from reading it. Many people could care less about what old men (who are often given credit for books of the bible they did not right) wrote over a thousand years ago; furthermore, whatever is written can be interpreted in multiple ways. Also, what is originally written and what is read today can be two entirely different things due to the information that can be lost in interpretation.

Do you realize how many of those points you list can just be written down and are practically guaranteed will happen.

"oh.. in the future.. there will be times of great drought!" Cool, that will happen, isn't so much of an "if" but more of a "when"

Well in the bible it also says that somebody raised an army of 1,000 people from bones in a valley. Several other countries have legalized it before the U.S. and are doing well. Berlin even has a whole gay district and Germany is doing quite fine.
Deadly diseases would be prevalent (Matthew 24:7). How is this even an argument? They have been prevalent since the beginning of time.
I can understand arguments against gay marriage, but this is just ...wut

Im personally against it. I think they are just going overboard with is being passed. Like how they lit up the white house, Niagara falls and other places with the gay colors and everyone who supports changing their profile pictures with the gay flag over it. I even saw posts of this flag being replaced mocked by gays bringing the gay flag up which in my opinion is disrespectful. It's just to much.

can't believe you just questioned the bible.
and its not the fact they have a district its the fact its everywhere now sense they accepted it thats the sign.

marriage is suppose to be man and a woman.

not guy and guy or woman and woman.

god created it be be the way it is now not any different its a holy vow.

now that the devil, won that that shows that it is the end of days soon to be.
i mean comon i think a 5th grader could read the signs.
its not hard you just got to take the time to look.
if you have anymore questions i will suggest you look in the bible god bless you.

Oh yes, thanks for responding to my post with a well thought out, logical response. I fully appreciate you quoting a book that I do not care all-that-much about.

There are plenty of questionable things in the Bible, just off the top of my head I think of Leviticus and the passages that tell you not to mix cotton and other linens, or to shave, or to eat "bottom dwellers." Lets not forget the Bible states the Earth is 10,000 years old (which it is not).

Marriage is not some inherently religious institution. Fun fact, Christianity is a measly 2,000 years old and marriage has been around longer then said religion. Humans married prior to Christianity and they will continue to marry after it.

ITT: Poe's law, bad trolls, religion, and people who believe that the gay agenda is to subvert the general populous and make them gay.

Looking at this from a 'meta-discussion' (?) point of view it is really funny to see the dichotomy. One side argues the stereotypical points and the other rebuts with the stereotypical points. For the record I am pro-marriage rights, but it's just funny to see this debate actually happening. I suppose our generation isn't as progressive as I thought, considering there are still people arguing about this.

Also mfw the Mormon asks about polygamy. The argument against polygamy is a logistical one, if I remember correctly. If anyone has studied family and civil law you will realize marriage, property rights in a marriage, and divorce is a difficult enough process with two individuals let alone 4 or 5.

Little different quoting research, or some type of article where they are analyzing information/facts/all that jazz. I would hardly call quoting a book chalked full of opinions an argument.
