Would you rather

If you were to walk into your children's room, and see them doing nothing but playing runescape and being on the online forums, would you try to get them not to do the same that you've done.. or would you allow this?

 

I would try to explain that there is a balance to be achieved, and to take all things in moderation to get the most enjoyment and success out of life. I wouldn't push it on them, though. As Jimi Hendrix said... "I'm the one that has to die when it's time for me to die, so let me live my life, the way I want to."

 

I probably won't let my kids play video-games. If I do, it will be limited.

 

Really depends on how much time they're spending online playing RS and browsing forums. If it's way out of balance and they're doing nothing but that then I would definitely just revoke their computer privileges.

 

If its out of control addiction, i would take actions against it.However i am fine with spending leisuretime playing video games, it has to be under control though.

 

This is more of a "What would you do?" situation than a "Would you rather"

But that's besides the point. I'll let them do what they want as long as it is in a rational amount. I won't be a hypocrite.

 

I'd ask him what he's doing, if he said "making money", I'd let him continue. #Boss

 

I wouldn't want them to, but I know how addicting it is, I'd try to get them to play in moderation.

 

Let them live their life as they'd want to.

 

If he's making some money off of it I don't see any problems with it.

 

Hopefully I would be more inclined to have them interested in sports or arts or something that got them experiences and a social circle IRL. Being shut up indoors and only communicating online can have implications on a person's confidence and people skills. It's not healthy.

 

I might concerned, I might have a conversation. But I wouldn't disallow it.

 

Well, if they were making money and this wasn't getting in the way of their other life commitments or goals, then I wouldn't care lol. But once it starts taking too much of their life away, and they're not making anything, it'd be time to limit it or stop it.

 

id tell them about sythe and how much they could make if they put there mind to it haha!

 

I have children and I would allow them to make up their own mind. We all play games at all different shapes sizes ages and looks, so we cant really judge someone else for what they do if it being your child or not doesn't make a difference.

 

I'd probably go the same route as Roary. I think the amount I was online as a kid was completely attributed to how few extracurriculars I was involved in. I still did sports and all that, just not as often as some other kids. I'd probably try and get them hooked on active/productive activities from a young age. Again though like everyone's said, everything in moderation.

 

I'd probably play with him, nah the truth is that being on online forums and playing runescape would be probably improving his english, just how it did to me and it would turn to be very good because I learned 70% of my english on games, forums, songs, etc and 30% in school. So I wouldn't disallow it, I'd let him be and only have a talk if his grades start to go down or he is getting unhealthy.

 

I am pretty addicted to games, I wouldn't want my kids to follow the same path.

 

This isn't a would you rather situation.

 

As long he does well in other areas such as studies and social life, I would allow it.
