dicing quote

hello,

In the dicing thread in the Donor section, once we quote the roll, and roll again it basically rolls twice . Once in the quote and once for us actually do the next roll. Is there any way you guys can fix it so that the quoted roll doesn't actually count as a roll?

I'm not sure if it violates any terms but if it's not, in the quoted text, you could remove a bracket or something else so it won't roll. Just a thought.

 

Basically the quote actually quotes what was typed, not the roll. So when you quote it, it rerolls the entire thing. I know nothing about coding but I think to change this would be difficult. Just type "roll to beat: xx" and then type the roll brackets.

The rule is that you have to quote the wager, you don't have to double roll. It's really just a shpeeple thing tbh. What I mean is, you don't have to quote the dice just the post (I didn't even quote the post at all when I diced frequently months ago, I would just say 'vs xxxx ## to beat') but when people see that others are quoting the dice rolls, they just assume that's what you're supposed to do and do the double roll creating a cycle of retardation and losing rolls (though sometimes people win because of the double roll). As a rule, any rolls in quotes don't count. If you don't want these rolls, as you feel it affects your chance of winning just remove the dice roll from the quotation.

 

This is not how probability works. The fact that they are rolling twice won't affect anything.

 

This, ignore the quote, it's irrelevant.

 

1. It does not affect your roll.
2. There is nothing stopping anyone from using advanced mode and previewing their post to get an arbitrary "new roll".

 

The quoted roll has no effect on previous or future rolls at it is randomly generated. It might be frustrating to see sometimes, but it will never count nonetheless.

If you want to get around this, simply state your roll will be against post "#XX", so there is no need to quote. Alternatively, you can remove the dice code from the post when quoting the user.
