i think that's correct re: certification. however a lot of people do get certified in central american programs because they're easier than american ones... so maybe you have to take a test to practice in the us but can get certified elsewhere? sounds reasonable to me at least

but starting fresh out of high school is not uncommon. as mentioned, they do the same in europe, and i think east/south asia are similar as well.

Well, It is actually 4-5 years depending on the university of studying in medschool plus 1 year as an intern where you are almost 24/7 on the hospital, then the next year you're sent to a poor community or little town where you are left in charge of the whole health center, all year, no vacations, nor holidays whatsoever. And how I said before, general doctors can't do much, and the jobs are way too limited, if you work in a hospital, most you can do is refer patients to specialists and the private work is very very limited as most of the people who can pay a private consult prefer to go first with an specialist than with a general doctor. A lot of doctors who can't pass the ENARM (The mexican equivalent to USMLE) and stay as general doctors, start working at low cost drug stores and they charge about 30 MXN the consult, like 2USD. That is why I'm doing my best, because I want to be an specialist.

As of practicing in states, you need to pass the USMLE to practice you can't just go and practice. And the recertification here is relatively easy if you want to go for example, to Spain, you just go to the consulate, pay some amount of euros give all your documents, wait about 4 months, and you can practice medicine in Spain, don't know about other countries.
