Thread Prompt

This sounds like it would be a great addition to the site, but I feel it needs to be short and on point. If you post an essay a lot of people will just skip it(How many people here read the entire terms and conditions before they click accept on the websites and programs they use)

 

Spoilers can/would be used for each concern. If I was going to enter a market and the first thing that popped up was a prompt telling me how to protect myself and marginalize the risk of being scammed, I would read it without question. Making the description for each concern relatively short would be the goal here. I agree that writing more than necessary may be off putting to a lot of people, especially with the low age demographic on Sythe.

 

Yesss!! Support, I wish I had known this back when I got scammed in 2007. It actually made me leave the site and I didn't come back till fagex.com crashed n burned.

I deal with newbies here and I'm always surprised many of them have no idea about vouches, donor rank, join date, official MM, chargebacks etc.

I think we've had several versions of what you propose for new users. Very few people end up actually reading, but support anyways Maybe Community Development can do something about this.....................

 

Better than not adding it. I added a draft of my own to the OP. I opted not to add Trust and Electronic money transfers as I felt it was too subjective. Staff/CDT, feel free to make any changes.

 

I think this is a good idea, especially the information about impostor scams as I feel that's what most newcomers fall prey to.

 

Great draft Ghast! I would just add a section that informs the users about certain methods of payment (and discuss about risk of chargebacks). Some people are ignorant about chargebacks and it would help them understand the risks of online trading.

This informs us about chargebacks for different methods and could be very helpful if you're going to make a section for what I stated above.
PS: Just dont mind the bitcoin parts.

Hey Ghast love the idea, Maybe we should have a portion on how to properly read a PM to avoid getting man in the middle scammed as it happens alot recently

 

Really well put Ghast, I like the idea of the use of spoilers to make it look short. By doing so, the user would not have to skim through what they deem unnecessary and possibly just getting them to ignore the whole thing entirely.

the draft is good. i would, however, suggest using more common instead of more complex ones so that non-native english speakers don't have to translate things like "hoodwinked" into their own languages if they don't understand them.

I like this idea, with the current amount of scams going on for new users this would be ideal.

 

I still believe it is very feasible and I think it would benefit the site a lot.
