Opinion - What Do you Think?

Question: What do you think is the biggest issue in the world today?

Superfluous - "I would say global warming because of its long-lasting effects on the wellbeing of the world. Other sorts of crises (e.g. economic, social) have been dealt with before, but we really have no experience keeping ourselves from ruining the planet."


Swan - "As a research focused student, I think the biggest problem facing the world right now is scientific illiteracy and ignorance. So much progress has been halted, and so many problems have been prolonged or even caused by the inability of the masses to understand and accept valid science. If everyone opened their minds to learning without bias, I think the world would certainly be a better place."

Sept - "One of my biggest issue is how America can spend hundreds of billions of dollars on war. Yet we can't fix poverty and unemployment."

Malakadang - "The biggest issue would be the economic collapse/continued deterioration of the US and the Eurozone. The full consequences of the US's QE programs has yet to be felt, it has artificially promoted malinvestment in the oil market as an example. The ECB is also beginning its own QE programs, as well as Greece's almost inevitable default which will trigger a series of chain reactions within the Eurozone (as if the QE program wasn't enough). Although issues such as poverty, 'excessive' population growth, and other social issues are of concern, international economic instability disincentives people to to invest into those economies, and without investment in capital goods, little real economic growth will take place, and economic growth plays a huge role in solving these social issues. What this means for the average person is less potential jobs, less potential increase in the quality of life, a continual perpetuation of inter-generational poverty, a widening gap between the rich and poor, and so on to name a few."

h1j2q3 - "I think its Bad living habits lead to cancer.
Cancer is the biggest health problem today and in the future."

Brian D Luffy - "I'd say racism. So many people hate each other because of the color of their skin and they have to realize that we are living in 2015. If we don't start respecting everyone, then we could collapse as a whole."

Karlrais - "I personally think that the biggest issue facing the world today is the growing power of the state. There can be a case made that a lot of problems in this world originate from bad goverment, such as wars, monopolies,food crisis, poverty, economic collapse etc. I think our 1st objective on the list should be to clamp down on the growth of the government or the fall of Rome vol 2 will be inevitable. Just my 2 cents on this topic."

Zinger36 - "I think that the biggest issue that is facing the world today is the crisis of mental health. I think the fact that its a disease/illness that people cant see, such as cancer, it gets a lot of bad stigma. I think with more research into helping deal with mental health and what causes it the world will be a much better and safer place."
