So I developed a newspaper app for some people and am planning to integrate advertisements for them to potentially monetize if they ever choose to. What I want to know is roughly how much they should charge "per unique view" and "per unique click". All of the advertisements would be placed at the end of the article content inside of the app, but before the comment section. By unique I mean the same person cannot just spam view or click the advertisement, so this type of advertising would be much more expensive i'm assuming. The newspaper is not that big so I don't see slots getting sold on each article that fully relate to the add. I think it will be more so that some business will just buy a bunch of the slots but the advertising would not be very targeted, so this would probably decrease the price down? I know it is hard to say since I can't really predict how targeted the advertising will be, so lets just assume it is generic as can be. Roughly how much should the newspaper charge "per unique ad view" and "per unique ad click"?

Don't know anything at all about the newspaper industry but to give you an idea about how PPC in the RSGP market works with google:

Google charges $0.5 - $2 per click depending on the time of day and the displayed location of your website link. Obviously this is really high, but it's a bidding system, and worth it for those who charge higher prices for RSGP. With newspaper hits I'd imagine it would be considerably lower because you're not immediately selling them anything.

The thing is you'll have trouble communicating your unique PPV system and advertisers won't trust it enough to pay more. Why not use a third party system? Much easier/more widely accepted.

It would most probably be best to advertise your self on the site.

As you know what audience you will be getting, you can place your ads accordingly.

For example, if you've got a mens magazine, you could create a site selling shavers, advertise other companys shavers on your site, and you always get around 6-10% of sales. For this to work, obviously a sale has to be made.

I do this alot my self with various different websites, you'll find companys are much happier using this way of advertising as they're only paying if something is actually getting sold.
