How do you handle sniped names?

I mm'ed a trade awhile back for a name trade. The name was sniped during the transfer. The buyer showed screen shots of the person who sniped him taunting him with the name in-game. Ofc this could've been the buyer playing a scam but I still listed the name on my thread as sniped to warn people

Is he in the wrong for buying it, knowing it was sniped?
Or..what. Should I take it out of my thread?

 

Why would that person be wrong for buying it? So because the name was sniped, no one else should hold possession of it except the sniper? If you're trying to look at it from a moral standpoint, it doesn't make sense. The keyword here is "was", so there is no longer a point in announcing that the name was sniped if it's in the possession of someone other than the person who sniped it.

 

Isn't he trying to resell that name that he sniped right now?

 

I completely agree with you but I recall someone saying not to trade with a certain name because it was sniped and if you were to be involved in a sniped name you'd be considered part of the scam

EDIT: Apparently the guy who claimed to have gotten sniped re-bought the name from the sniper which is highly unlikely.
I believe they were both trying (or one of them) was trying to play me, to make a free 40m 07.

If you know a name was sniped/stolen during transfer and buy it, then yes you arguably are as guilty as a gold trader buying stolen gold, for example.
