Thread, Post, & PM Draft

I was just thinking it would be useful to have a Thread/PM/Post Draft that would auto-save if you got disconnected, had a power outage, hit the back button, just saving it to finish in the morning, or what have you. Of course you would probably need to have a limit of how many drafts each person can have such as 1 at a time or up to 5, something like that, and/or limit the draft to a certain level of donation rank.

Sure you can always copy paste what you have into notepad or some shit like that but convenience is key and that wouldn't cover everything.

Not sure if this has been suggested before but I believe it would be a good addition, would help me when accidentally clicking out of the text box then hitting the back space and loosing everything, or when I think of something right before going to sleep but not feeling like writing it out completely so I post it with half assed effort only to have to edit it later multiple times till its what I want or put it off till the next day and forget the main details if not the entire idea.

Probably could have made a better argument for it but hey it's late, and I cant save it for later.

 

I just feel like using notepad is so much easier. No limit on the number you can store, easier to save your work while writing, etc. No support from me.

 

I wouldn't think notepad is easier unless you start every post/pm/thread in notepad then copy paste into Sythe and edit from there, but that's unnecessary and I doubt many people do it although it would solve most of those problems except for the computer shutting down unless you save on notepad after every word you type or in another word processing software that has auto save built in.

Plus in my computer at least, my organization of documents is haphazard in the least and even when I do type something in notepad about Sythe I have a hard time finding it where instead I could just login and click unfinished work and continue it here with no document searching.

 

I believe there is an autosave feature already built in vbulletin. I don't think it would be overlooked for so long. So maybe there is something prohibiting it's use? Support anyways.

Edit: Apparently it's not a core feature for this version of vBulletin, which means a plugin mod would be necessary. There are a few mods for older versions (not sure if they would be compatible with this version). The only problem I can see with this is something being database related, then in which case filters can be made to automatically delete old drafts. Even if this were to be accepted, it would most likely be on the bottom of a long pending to-do list.

Actually, this is already in use in some form.
Using the ADVANCED editor, it will temporarily save the typed text, so a back button or closed tab shouldn't be an issue.

 

Even when I go to post something and get the server error page it still saves my post so I can just refresh and submit it

 

I guess I didn't realize that is was somewhat in effect already, that is pretty handy. But still wouldn't cover it if the computer goes down or browser is closed, I would assume. Handy, but could be more advanced
