Regarding Sythe Name Changes

Normal users aren't allowed to change their names on sythe, only staff have the privilege to do so. Most active sythe users know this, however newcomers may not know this. What I suggest is, before a new user signs up, make a pop up saying something such as "WARNING: You will not be able to change your sythe name after this. What you choose as your name now is what it will be forever."

I think this will help since people who are truly newcomers most likely don't know of the fact that they can't change their name after sign up, thoughts?

 

Definitely support this. I've seen one or two threads asking if they could change their name. Having this would definitely eliminate any of those threads.

Uhh, did you read the thread, I'm not suggesting that name changes should be allowed.

 

I'll support a notification, however a pop-up might be a tad overkill.

Support, no more Bogla_Man_Toilet's. People need a message to pop up since a lot of newcomers tend to not read the stickies regardless.

 

I've never heard of anyone giving people name changes so I'm not sure why people would assume they can just change their name on here.

 

This lol. I don't know why anyone would assume their username is able to be changed in the first place, but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to add a sentence saying that it can't be changed.

 

If people don't read stickys, why would they read a popup?

90% will probably just click away and never know the content of the popup/message.

 

Then we can at least say it is their fault for not reading it. If people don't read the stickies, it is their fault, and same thing if there was a pop up. However as it stands now, you can't really blame the new users and put the fault on them for not knowing you aren't allowed to change your name after your sythe account is made. Plus, I don't think everyone would just click away. I would think that those who are truly new sythe users who are looking to get into the community/market would put care into creating the account they will be stuck with forever, rather the a ban evader who might just rush through the process.

 

It kind of beats the point of choosing a desired username. If I'm making an account anywhere, I'm not going to choose a username I don't want. If they want to change their name, the option to start over is always available.

 

Regardless or not the popup exists it's pretty common sense that you can't change your name... people don't read stickies it's unlikely they'll read this
