Disallow Max Main Rentals

Staker renting is just a breeding ground for scammers and there's maybe just one or two legitimate rental services in the section. There are numerous scam allegations against a lot of threads because many of them are ban evaders/scammers who make new accounts to create these rental threads and then boot the user off of their account when the pot gets big enough, and a lot of the proper precautions to protect yourself simply can't be taken.

I've compiled a list of one serial ban evader/scammer who has done this multiple times and I'm sure that there are others with threads currently open in the section:

Either get rid of it entirely or (at the very minimum) have a list of login usernames NOT to rent (but often times you won't find out the login username until you've already paid the deposit...)

No support, it's up to the customer to pick who he trusts. It's his own fault if he's choosing a new user with 0 vouches and getting scammed.

Nope, can't disallow something because there are scammers. I'm willing to bet a majority of account sales in general are scams but we don't ban them outright, just use discretion.

It's already been suggested and denied.
The reason was someone from the community would need to make it and maintain it, and not relied to be made by a mod/sythe staff.

No Support. If we dis-allow it because there are scammers, we might aswell just dis-allow all trading.

 

Basically that is what they are saying yes, if someone from the community is willing to create it + maintain it, then it would be fine.

Obviously you would need proof of the login names and proof they scammed etc.

 

I'm sure there's many of us here on Sythe who would be more than happy to maintain that list and update it once a week or something. Myself included.

 

Not saying we should disallow simply because there are scammers, but because the section harbors an abnormally large proportion of scammers with zero to little means of being able to protect oneself (i.e. using an MM) unlike other trades.

I honestly think the site would be a whole lot better just getting rid of it, or at the very least implementing a list like above.

There are plenty of markets where a large percentage of trades result in fraud, and where using a MM probably won't help. We cannot ban a type of trade based on this criteria, but rather encourage people to use proper discretion.

I don't think the list is super useful, but if you want to make one go for it. It'll take activity to maintain and verify claims, and people that need to read it the most wont. Scammers can get other accounts to use, etc. All that it'll accomplish is prevent some serial scammers using the same method, and the same accounts, and assuming that the person they're trading with reads it.
