Make hacking announcements noticable

Pretty straight forward. Can barely tell it's in that section and if you're a newcomer you can easily miss that. Could at least set up a banner on the top when you first go onto the Sythe homepage or maybe a "popup" (but not in a different window) banner?

 

Agreed. Even if they could somehow implement a small news bar or something in different colors that is easy to see on the background.

Or a small chatbox that only Admins/GMods can post in for emergency uses only?

You're not gonna get a banner. Popups might be possible as long as they only appear once... but bring it up with Matthew I guess. Personally I don't care about who's hacked as I'm not active in the market and would find this annoying - people should request proper pms and be able to notice if something is out of line.

 

Sending a private message to every user would be effective, but realistically it would take a beating on the server by inserting over 396,982 new rows into the database in such a short period of time (if it's not instant, then what's the point?).

I do agree that something needs to be done, but a mass PM is likely out of the question. Perhaps a notice on the top of the site that lasts X amount of time for users logged in.

 

A pop up that shows just once per hacking sounds good.

 

Of course people should, but if you look in the report a scammer section, you'll see that tons of people just don't do it. That's the major problem here.

 

why not just make an announcement in the red area the size of the buttons, because practically everybody who clicks on sythe will see it

 

I don't think it's very welcoming to new users if the first thing they notice on Sythe is that someone is hacked and it's unsafe to trade them. There should definitely be a quick link where you can view recent hackings if you please, however, it shouldn't be in any way mandatory to the experience of visiting Sythe.

 

People can just read the rules of trading before they trade. A banner should not be made it just turns users away from an open market.

 

Make it like the pop up you get when you receive a pm on sythe.

Well in my opinion safety of trades and preventing scams is more important than if it's visually appealing

 

Just an idea, but what if the hacked user's user title is automatically changed to something like "Hacked - Do Not Trade" or something like that. After everything is confirmed ok it is changed back to what it was after.

Exactly.

And UTs won't happen realistically because you'd need an admin to manually fulfill the request. Perhaps a rule requiring the hacked user to edit it into their signature, but I don't like more rules there's already so many.

 

Why don't you just let people use common sense and check RaSc before trading anyone?
