Question about graphic vouches

Well I saw a thread in the suggestions forum yesterday about graphic vouches, and I totally agree that not enough trust is involved for these to warrant having vouches. However, why do transactions where the people going first get vouched count?

E.g. I buy from a gold giant, I go first obviously, merchant vouches me after ("great sale, very easy")

 

Yeah, good question; otherwise, newcomers wouldn't have any vouches. I think the point is that, as long as a reasonable trade has occurred, both parties can leave feedback for each other. Why graphics count as a different type of trade/vouch as bond sales, I'm not really sure.

 

I've bought graphics before on RSC, the feedback is because until I've paid they either won't finish it, or won't remove the watermark. But once you've got some feedback new buyers can see that A) The quality of work is good, B) After they paid they were happy with the product.

It's like having any trade, you have to prove you can run the business in a good manner.

 

They can recieve feedback, but not vouches. They should receive vouches as they partake in honest transactions, I agree.

You're partially right. The authenticity is lacking in that context, however, that doesn't mean they shouldn't be entitled to record their own trades. I choose not to record trades that involve me buying because I feel they aren't as genuine, but again that's up to the buyer. If a feedback system were in place, this wouldn't be a question.

 

Exactly. I do agree with the mods that there is a lot less trust involved in these graphic transactions, but then why are vouches which involve going second still allowed, which is an issue of 0 trust?

 

I guess just to provide a history of legitimate transactions in the market, otherwise newcomers would not have any sort of feedback for future reference or be able to generate trust.

I think that people should be able to leave feedback for graphics sales/dicing payouts though because there is a certain degree of integrity/following through that is involved with these trades as well.

 

I never understood this. I could buy small amounts of RSGP and then just sell it using a middleman each time or going first and get a lot of "vouches". I don't even trust people unless they run a business here or have a middleman rank. There is something to say for somebody having many smooth trades happen whether they were trusted with something or not. I don't think it should even be considered a vouch unless you were trusted with something of value (small or not)

 

I agree, however it is just very questionable the decision to allow vouches for transactions where you weren't trusted with anything, like when you go first. And subsequently not allow vouches for graphic transactions where at least something (however small it may be) is put on the line, whether it be money, or the graphic artists' time.

 

Any official word on this? Superfluous did post above though it was when he wasn't a mod yet

 

I don't understand why you can't claim any vouches for Gfx either. Say if we make a deal (e.g.: signature, UI and an avatar for $25) and the Gfx artists does it all like discussed and I'm happy with the work, why shouldn't that person be able to get a vouch? (just like being legit in a gold sale, IMO).

I completely agree with this, however if this the case, how come things like bond selling vouches are allowed? Hell they take less effort than gfx does, and they are like what, 2-3$ vouches? If bond vouches are allowed why aren't gfx vouches?

 

I like the way GFX artists adapted to this by putting "x amount of orders completed" in their topics. That statistic matters in the graphics section, but doesn't matter anywhere large scale scams can occur.
