Hmm, overall I have no idea how many hours I've spent on games. MW2 I had like 13 days, but that was back in middle/high school when I gamed all the time.

Now, single player games I'd say under 15-20 hours a month. Games with local multiplayer? Not sure, but it's significant. Friends and I will often end up playing Super Smash and just hanging out for hours on end.

As for Money, I don't often buy brand new games and try to wait for them on sale (ex: Black Friday I picked up 6 Xbox One/PS4 games for like $30 each.) Consoles were kind of expensive, but eh, it's like any other hobby.

If you enjoy the time spent, it's time well spent. It's just making sure video games don't keep you from doing other things and/or taking over your life.

 

I've probably spent ~600 days gaming, and ~$2,000 total.

 

Oh God, I could just imagine how productive my life would've been if I didn't start playing video games...

 

Definitely not worth it in the end in terms of opportunity cost (what else you could have been doing), but it's a totally reasonable hobby. If you enjoy playing games, go for it!

 

I'm in profit from WoW account selling on PA and from working in the past for a few RBG/5v5 sites (RIP 5v5 titles), I haven't made a lot from RS because RWT on RS has never interested me, I've just preferred having a lot of gold instead of actually selling it; I liked owning everything - but I did sell everything when I quit just before EOC which was a few hundred bucks minus PA's commission and Paypal skimming a bit off the top, as they do.

 

i enjoy video games quite often. I have both a xbox 360 and a X1. Gaming with friends occupies my time when im not studying for college. Bet you can't guess which game i use to suck at....

 

Over the past decade-plus I have certainly spent thousands of dollars on RuneScape. Whenever I purchase another game, it is usually a one-time buy with DLC purchases I make that adds up quite a bit as I am a sucker for spending paychecks. Games like GTA V I play about every or every-other night with a friend of mine I have known since my schooling days IRL. So to spend so much time and money on a game that you truly enjoy and relieves the stressful days you have at work (or school) is just as worth people paying to get into clubs, golf courses, sports games, whatever-else-have-you that also takes up time and finances.

I've spent roughly $7,500 building my PC for gaming, I've spent countless hours gaming it's self, and probably about $2000 in video games themselves.

 

Probably play 6-10 hours a day currently.
I don't spend much, I only play Runescape atm so just membership fee and sometimes I buy a few bonds. I'd say around £30 a month at most.

For me it's worth it; I've my own personal reasons and I enjoy the game.

 

I've spent far too much time that I'd rather not even give an estimate. I've cut that time significantly lately. The amount I've spent on games is probably around $1k on my PS3 games alone. Luckily I didn't have to pay for my hundreds of PS1 and PS2 games in the past. I'm holding out on purchasing a PS4 until I want a game badly enough (KH3).

 

I don't game much anymore, I use to play Runescape and Black Ops 2 daily back in high school but once I came to college I hardly play them and when I do it's botting Runescape so I have been spending my in game gold to get membership to bot. Otherwise, I have played final fantasy 14 ARR and in the past WoW. I don't plan on paying for subscription games anymore till they add ore shit to final fantasy, come out with better games, and I make more money. I recently traded some of my ps4 games since I only play it about once a month, and mainly use it for netflix.

So depending on if you plan to play it daily then a subscription based game would be worth it. Otherwise the average game for a one time fee is just about always worth it especially when you wait about half a year after it is released to get the good deals, besides the DLC bullshit where they make the full game then take out the best parts and make you pay for it. But still just like on black ops zombies maps I would consider that worth it because I can play it any time I would want.

 

It's like any other hobby which I enjoy doing on my free time. The time spent playing is significantly lower than days when I was in high school. I don't let it get in the way of other important things and don't play many games either. I only play CoD and Halo. I don't buy or play any other game so I spend very little on games. It's fun.

 

Around 250 hours gaming. As for whether its worth it or not, thats completely up to the individual. Heck some people will say doing heroin is worth it.

 

I would say it's all personal preference.. Some people play sports for a hobby while others game.. I personally like dayz and osrs, have never really spent money on rs.. Probably 30$ max for starting gold on an acc

 

Umm... For me, yes.

I have bought video games in the past on Steam or whatever and quickly realised it was a waste of money and never played them again. And I will probably do it again in the future.

With that being said, games such as COD BO2, for example, I have put over a month of gametime in which translates to (and trust me i'm drunk and did absolutely 0 math) like a penny/h of gaming. Totally worth it for me. People go to the movie theater and spend 10 dollars for 2 hours of entertainment. And if you think about this before you buy games, you will get a lot better bang for your buck.

Also since this is Sythe I have to admit Runescape, though many will tell you otherwise, is an excellent example of a game where you can get TONS of enjoyment from very little monetary cost.

 

It's not like gaming is being treated as an investment by the average user. So, from my point of view. The money spent, is on par with spending it on other luxuries. No luxuries are really "worth it".

And time, geez.. Some exponential value..
