Old Computer makes NO SENSE WTF.

So recently my old computer stopped working Java, Runescape.com would load but Java wouldn't. A simple fix to this was getting the clients, both of which worked.

However, now I notice that some websites completely don't load at all.

Things that do work:
Skype
Runescape Clients
Google / Google Searches
Facebook / Twitter

Things that don't work:
Most random websites.
Runescape.com
Sythe.org
If I google search, the search results come up. 90 percent of the sites DO NOT load.


What on earth could be causing this? I did a router reset - did nothing. Flushed dns - did nothing?

Help!? This is really baffling.

Don't think it's a router problem - my other 2 computers load any website with ease.

 

What browser are you using? Try updating it.

 

Google Chrome. The problem is the same on Mozilla Firefox as well which would seem to indicate it's not a browser problem.

Re-downloading Mozilla made it now load absolutely nothing.

 

I'm not to sure. Try running a virus scan if you havn't already.

Paypal worked.

My only thought is I have a corrupt .dll file somewhere, or a virus. Cuz occasionally my computer won't go into standby mode and sometimes the mouse spazzes out.

 

Go into 'safe mode with networking' the internet may work then, and download and run malwate bytes

 

Scanned, found a few things but nothing that fixed the problem.

Peculiar ;/ . I don't know what is causing it, I rarely download anything on the machine. The only thing I can think of that I downloaded was when I updated Java, that's it.

 

Open up internet explorer then click tools, then internet options or properties, go to the connections tab. Remove any VPNs. Then click LAN settings and make sure it's set to automatic.

What does it say when you try to open a page?

 

It just acts as if it's loading and never does anything. It doesn't give any sort of connection error or another screen. It just loads...forever lol.

You could always attempt a hard wipe and if that doesnt work you know its toast :/ best of luck

 

Yeah I mean, it's not an urgent problem. I have 2 superior computers, I just liked playing OSRS on it because OSRS is actually better to play on a non-gaming mouse (weird, right?). Well at least that's my preference.

Something similar happened to my cousins laptop. Virus scans were clean, worked just fine the night before. Formatted and everything worked again.

Something in my registry has to be off. That seems to be where most of the problems are in terms of other people describing this issue on the internet. Would be great if I could wipe out the corrupted/potential virus file instead of losing all my data.

 

You should back up your information to a flash drive and reinstall windows. You could try ccleaner which cleans registerys, but idk if it'll help.

I have the same problem with RS… Stupid Macs. The java updates are included in the OS updates, however there are no newer updates available with mine. That's planned obsolescence for ya.
