why is the price of OSRS Gold rising?

It was $2.47/m a little over a week ago, now it's at $3.19/m.. What's happening in the runescape community for the price to be inflating?

 

Release of F2P and the Grand Exchange are causing an influx of players to play OSRS. More players gives more demand for gold. Supply and demand.

 

Believe it or not, I think it will keep increasing.

Yeah due to F2P and Grand Exchange, it will slowly be going down in the next few weeks

Won't be that much for long, it will crash significantly due to F2P being introduced.

 

% profit remains the same lol, sellers have to buy for higher now aswell.

Like others said, the population of people playing OSRS increased dramatically, but supply of gold has remained almost static.

Basic fundamentals of supply and demand. The demand has become greater, while the supply is somewhat static, causing the price of the supply to rise. This is only temporary due to the hype osrs is getting right now.

 

After the initial hype it will go down right? How long will this "hype" period last?

Imagine what would happen if the top 10 sellers started working together though...

 

There are WAY more than 10 gold giants in the market....

 

Not exactly. I'm sure the top 10 make up far more than the rest of the competition, not through sales on sythe, but because they all have est. and well known sites w/ hundreds if not thousands of returning customers.

 

Also possibly due to some recent ban waves.

I had 6/10 hit yesterday, though it could have been a coincidence.

Hard to farm efficiently without risk.

 

1B + OS was just swiped by Mod Ronan and Mod Archied, on RS live stream.
F2P recently came out, new players are joining the game, + GE, economy is slowly increasing that's my opinion and i think this is the main reason gold prices rised.
Either way no clue what's gonna happen in few upcoming months guess we'll have to find out soon

 

it should level out after the hype from f2p goes down.

 

F2p is the main reason, and ge is moving gp around, which helps.
