Valstone: Coming Up From Nothing - Turning the Fishing Bot into a Range Tank Main

BACKSTORY:
Please read the backstory if you are interested in what I've gone through regarding accounts and my reasoning(s) for creating this account, getting back into OSRS, and what this progression thread was created for.

Hi,

My hopes for this thread are for it to serve as somewhat of an inspiration to all those who have been scammed buying an account or lost their accounts somehow... know that even when all things seem to fall apart, time never ceases to go on, and so as long as we should believe in the truth that time does not ever subdue itself eternity, there will always be a new day... and one that is fruitfully amassed with seemingly endless opportunities! (if you chose to take em'! ^_^)

Near the end of December 2014, I bought an account from a sythe guru, "M4rsxpk3r" with 60+ vouches whom had also sold previous accounts with no problems. The account is currently named "Abekat" on this HS, it is a maxed range tank with the quest cape + full void and over 2M NMZ points. 99 Magic & Defence, 94 Ranged, 85 Slayer, 246/246 QP... This account was shortly recovered from me after a shady deal. I lost 112M 07. Scam report can be found for this in the archives, he is still banned today.

At the beginning of January 2015 I had one personal OSRS account left. It was a fishing bot that I had used near the creation of OSRS when botting was still possible. It had 84 fishing and less than 30 in almost all other stats. Around 33 QP. After losing such an inordinate amount to another account sale I thought this... you know what, fuck it, I'm going to make an account myself that is just as good as his account.

The goal of this thread in the end is to have transformed this pathetic account (my current account) into an account that is just as good as the one I have lost. This will be a very long ride, somewhat of a journey imo as my account at the time of writing this is still pretty pathetic. I hope you will join me along the way, however and if you have not ever trained your own account before I hope that you can siphon off some inspiration from this thread. Buying an account is always risky, and imo not the way to go. Training your own is satisfying and your own account will never fall into the hands of someone else. It will be yours forever.

So yeah, if you look at the pictures below you will see it's a pretty rough start. A very pathetic account lol... This thread will show my progression in training in into an account that is equal to, or better than the account I mentioned above that I had lost. Obviously I like to train different skills and dislike to train other particular skills so the skilling stats will vary. Many of my skillling stats are already on-par with his. This is the account I am trying to make my own account live up to (his account that I bought, and was recovered from me):




One of the greatest challenges for me in training this account will be leveling the defense, as I absolutely hate to train CB.

To start this off....

I did not take pictures till having leveled and played on the account a moderate amount, though stats were still awful. I started training this account on Jan 1, 2015. Mostly just doing preliminary quests until about the 20th, casually. My first recorded pic of the stats, however is on January 20, 2015: (we can use this as a starting point, as its still a pretty pathetic account atm). Of the quests I have a gyazo snap, from Jan 6th, 2015.

Evert stat on the account in these pictures directly below was hand trained (or exp gained from quests), besides the fishing which was mostly botted. This was the only account I had left from my expenditures with Tribot, every other account I botted on got permanently banned. Obviously all it's other stats are hardly levled at all, as most are barely in the 30s.

- They are in order of when I plan to achieve them
- My goal is to be as SELF SUFFICENT as possible, this is not in the iron man sense, I will still trade with other players. But I will ONLY USE GOLD that I have MADE MYSELF through skilling or through doing services on Sythe.
- Crafting all runes myself is a must.
- Every quest will be done by me, every stat will be trained by hand. So yeah, enough of the intro now. I will get into pictures. Hope this can be inspirational and hope it is enjoyed!

Sucks what happened to you, but it's awesome you could turn it around and turn it into something positive

Good luck man, and sorry about the mishap in the sythe market. You'll find it much more rewarding you have your own account though .

 

Also I should add that if you want to forego slayer until later, you can max out your account in ~1-3months @ NMZ depending on how long you play per day.

Very true stuff about training your account verses buying one. Personally, I don't like training combat... but I love skilling and questing, it's a lot more satisfying and rewarding to train it yourself - plus you'll always keep it forever.

I might have forgot to say though, I don't want to level strength or attack above level 70, and cannot level prayer above level 52 or that would defeat the purpose of the account.

For CB Stats my goal is:

70 Attack
70 Stength
99 Defence
99 Magic
94 Ranged (or 99)


I hate training CB, and by virtue also don't like training slayer very much. I would do NMZ, but I don't think it yeilds good rates for magic or range exp/h? As compared to alching, superheating or chinning... Not sure though.

 

Ranging/Maging is great in NMZ, and decently afkable with absorption potions. Not sure about how much it spends when comparing with how many points you get in return though. When I did mage in NMZ I used barrows helm, barrows legs, dfs, and an ahrims mage top, not sure if that's in your budget. For range I used full armadyl, and rune arrows with msb (maybe sub the helm and/or legs for barrows if you need more defensive armour).

If I train to do NMZ now, I would need someone to "host" it for me correct? As I've already done quests worth 172QP. Can I still get good exp rates if I did it myself w/ proper gear and all?

No, you would definitely need a host, I would suggest using the guthans host, as the monsters are easier.

 

on my old range tank i used to train defence at dagganoths with whip and cannon set up lol could semi afk when your defence is high

Haven't had that much time to play, decided to update the agility and current QP though, posted new pictures

Few days ago I completed DT and RFD (the final part), to barrows gloves! Got the first short-term goal complete. heh

Also I just updated it, got 80 agility last night and few other smaller milestones. I'm currently working on farming (need 49 farming for quest cape or atleast 45) and still training agility actually. Will start back up on my quest cape soon. I think I may peek out at 84 agility or something and then go for quest cape again. Maybe 85 or 86. Would like it to be my highest skill for awhile ^_^
