paypal credit

there's an expensive jacket I want on ebay and thinking about applying for paypal credit. am I a complete idiot for considering this? better off just selling one of my possessions? never had a credit card or anything like that before

 

No, no, and no. First of all if you don't have money you don't want to buy a luxury item and put yourself in debt. Then you're paying both for the expensive jacket and then fees and interest on top of that. The ONLY time I use my credit card is to a) buy something right before I get paid in an emergency b) Pay my parents bills (they reimburse me) just to build credit.

Not to mention if you don't have a credit history, you will not get approved for Paypal credit in the first place.

 

A credit card should NOT make anything that's expensive seem more affordable. In reality, if you don't have the funds, it's significantly more expense than the face value due to interest expense.

 

only other thing I could add is i really need a warm jacket. I have to walk in the freezing cold every day so it's something I really need

$25/month doesn't seem like much. I could make that in one day questing

 

That's exactly how credit card companies make their killings. If you can make that money questing, go make it, and pay for the jacket with that cash. Don't unnecessarily take out loans, which is what a credit card boils down to.
