I don't know if i've posted this before, but while clearing my computer I found this in a word doccument dating to the 30th of October 2012. Figured I'd post it again before I delete it.

"Getting Sythe Moving Again!"​

Good Evening Folks, after some collaboration with about half a dozen active members from the Sythe community we have finally decided to launch the Community Advancement Team. and we will be discussing who we are and whats our goal in this thread.

What is the Community Advancement Team?
The Community Advancement Team is a handful of sythe individuals devoted to giving the Sythe community the nudge off the edge if you will, in order to establish a flowing, healthy, active and just plain awesome community. Right now there are very few Sythe Community events being taken place I am to beleive, they are only targeted to a minority of Sythe patrons and require hours of your time, devotion to staying online and have limited times in which you can sign up for such events. Basically, the events are marginalizing about 60% of the Sythe Community. The Community Advancement Team or "C.A.T.S" for short plan to significantly boost the sythe community and bring us closer together which in turn should help out the other sections of the site, it may even boost the Market Sector which we are extremely excited about.

What are your short term and long term goals?
Short term goals = Within 2 months, before Janurary 1st 2013 we would like to have accomplished:
-"The Sythe Factor" a Bi-weekly or Monthly eNewsletter avalible for free and emailed to all sythe members if they would choose to receive it. Includes all notable bans, farewells, promotions, approved suggestions, "Shining Newbie" award which is an award where the community will vote for the new member who has made the most contributions or shined as a sythe user within their first month of joining as well as other notices, announcements and competitions all sealed up in a neat little email and delivered to your inbox.

-Establish Continually Commencing events that target a broad audience of members. This means no stupid chess tournament that you have 2 hours to sign up for and you never get to see the games being played or the group progression stages. The CATS
The Community Gaming night was a flop, lets be honest. The CATS team are setting out to establish 1 NEW event weekly such as Online Connect 4, Omeagle competitons, FunOrb game nights, Realm of the Mad God group sessions, ect, with all time zones and information posted so you can easily click on the thread and see how to join, download or whatever. Members are being extremely discouraged in the Community Gaming Night thats already created if they dont have the proper software or have no idea who will be participating or when it is on. So We would also like to establish a regular gaming night that is on at the same time every week with various games. Imagine 40 Sythe members all creating a giant tribute to Govind in a minecraft server, with the CATS team its possible.

-A proper Sythe.org Facebook page that has regular announcements and updates and is easy to find by searching "Sythe" into the facebook search bar.

Fun "Reddit Style" IRL activities such as: Sending a Package around the world and each recipient places $1 Currency from there home country and signs a slip of paper inside the box that will be delivered to Sythe so he will always remember the community he brought together.

A Secret Santa Sythe Edition is also extremely possible and our team will be working vigorously to establish it by Mid-November.

Long Term Goals- 6-12 Months:

- A boosted community where members never feel out of place and always feel a sense of family with the Sythe users

-Regulary Running competitions and events with Cash Prizes as well as other bonuses

-Fully Revamped sections such as makeovers to the "Meet The Staff, Feedback and Off Topic" sections as well as a major overhaul to the "Our Community" section.

-Many, Many more suggestions being imputed, for Sythe be a community- run site where new users feel like they've hit home from their first post.



Then who the hell was the Community Development Team?
Who? After formulating the idea is was brought to my attention that there was some mysterious entity called the Community Development Team that may or may not exist, probably the latter. Their contributions to the Sythe community have been insignificant and for the most part, irrelevant. We believe its high time they pass down the torch and let the CATS team have a go at defusing this mother of a community. We hope you all agree too. If controversy arises, both groups can remain and prosper with suggestions and additions to the site, it can mean nothing good for Sythe having 2 separate groups working to create the most bad-ass community in forums history.

How can I join?
The CATS group would ideally like to be comprised of the 12 best, active friendly and committed community members Sythe has to offer. Applications to join the CATS team will be announced in the following weeks while the group gets off the ground and running. Watch this space.

Does this apply to me, just a regular honest Joe trying to sell my maxed boxer?
We believe the impact that the C.A.T.S team is going to have on Sythe with me an astronomical difference from the old community you have come to accept. Say "au revoir" to the mundane, lifeless Sythe community and prepare to have your mind blown. Online forums have never experienced what is about to happen to Sythe. The countdown begins.

Maybe in 2012, most things we release can be completed in under 10 minutes. With the exception of some slightly longer like scavenger hunts. Nothing takes hours of your time or devotion to staying online.

Getting a group of people to organize something monthly is more difficult than you'd expect. I like the idea of it being emailed out to people on the list.

There are currently bi-monthly sponsored tournaments with miniranks, cash prizes, etc.

The last tournament I ran (pool) was open for 4-5 days I think and we had like 60 people sign up in that time, I only ran it after sign ups dropped off. Everything was tracked in a bracket updated almost instantly and the finals were livestreamed and announced.

That would be hard to pull off. You expect to take sign ups, run the course of the tournament, and then post the results in a week? Not to mention providing some kind of prize?

Or maybe you'd have multiple going at a time, but tournaments take some effort to organize and manage. You'd need at least a couple people determined to do it. Of course, if someone has that kind of initiative they can inquire about joining the official community development team which already has a reasonable platform and support to do it.

Getting 40 people on at the same time playing a game like minecraft that actually takes some knowledge and time/money to download or crack? If you intend to do something every week you're going to have an incredibly hard time finding participants. There is a reason that idea fell apart.

Social media failed, and not because of a lack of activity on it. No one wants to associate their real life page with Sythe or Runescape, and actually using facebook to attract real people into actually joining and participating? Nearly impossible.

I like the package idea, I think its cool. Of course you could just suggest this to us and we'd work with you to make it happen.

The secret santa idea was trashed because of the reality that people would send sheit.

Suggestions

Calling the CDT insignificant and irrelevant and then basically emulating 90% of what we do (with reasonable success) is an interesting approach...
