Pros & Cons of Buying a RS Account

Yeah I pretty much agree with all of this tbh. Even seeing how easy it is to buy gold --- once you go down that path (which I never did on my main thankfully), it really just waters the achievement feeling of the game.

The shitty thing about accounts is there's pretty much no expiration date in terms of it being unrecoverable by the previous owner.

Literally the only time I'd ever consider buying an account is if it was to stake on and then I'd either win or lose gold accordingly on it. If it was recovered, then at least I will have gotten a return out of it (hopefully).

 

While this is opinionated for some of the points, I highly agree with most of the points Ghast has posted. I find a risk in buying any account in general and just better off to do the work on your own account.

Exactly why most mm decline to deal with account trades, big grey area.

 

1.Runescape takes time. Some people have more money than time. Thus
they buy accounts.

2.If you buy from a trusted source then this shouldn't be a huge issue

3.Again, if the source knows what he's doing and you know what you're doing then it's not as likely, but this is valid. There's always a chance.

4.Good source, won't get recovered.

5.Because everyone on the internet tells the truth. /sarcasm

6.This is the case however this sort of info should come from the seller.

7.Some people think being a high level and having good items and using RS as a chat room is fun. Or buying a high level account so that they can immediately start PVP and PVM without the countless hours skilling.

8.True, but if you're buying an account in the first place you probably don't care about the low level stuff / quests.

9.Again, trusted source and you should be fine.

10.I can easily say you're better off playing on an account you didn't create. Not really puts across a very good point.

I definitely agree with this, especially if you're going to use the account for RWT.

 

Sometimes I have intentions on buying an account just because the stats of the account catch my attention, although I rarely go through with the trade ever. I'll end up actually thinking about what I'm about to do and I ask my self, why do I want to waste money on something that eventually I won't have?
A majority of the time the accounts get recovered/banned/locked. Not saying that this always happens but the odds are not in your favor when you buy an account. So I have to agree with your 10 reasons to not purchase an account.

 

Yeah I agree with a lot of your reasons although some are more opinion based than factual. The biggest thing to remember is if you think the person is sketchy or you wouldn't trust them A LOT then don't buy an account off them.

 

Eh at the end of the day I only work so I can enjoy my off time (traveling / gaming) and sure yeah I've had four accounts recovered on me, but the time I had them I enjoyed bossing / Pking. I know I could have gone to a private server but to be honest they all suck, Pking is always a joke and PvMing is far to easy. At the end of the day I spent my money on happiness and entertainment. So it's worth it to me.

 

yeah i truly agree with you. Buying an account is definitely a waste of money because it can easily get recovered by its owner at anytime, specially if the account had been a member in the past, which i am sure every buyer usually buys a member accounts or else whats the point of buying this account. Therefore i hate the idea of buying/selling accounts!

 

All of these is exactly why I don't buy and sell RS accounts and never will.

I wouldn't waste my money on buying an RS account ever. The number one thing on my mind is that there is always fear of getting recovered so whatever you do on the account isn't yours. Whatever gold you make and whatever skills you level are things you are doing for the original owner.

To anyone that doesn't have time to train an account but has money I'd recommend creating an account themselves and having someone else skill on it.

 

I do agree but in some cases the money is worth it me personally don't mind spending the money on a decent pure with all quests done prior but that's just me
