False Scam Reports Hurting Reputation

Here's what happens when someone searches my name + scammer on Google:

The titles on these threads are the major issue. They are what appears on Google. Can you please edit these titles / threads to show that we are not scammers? Thank you,

AFAIK, editing thread titles and what not isn't permitted in the RASC.

 

I agree with you that this is annoying; I have a number of fake scam reports against me as well. I'm not sure if they would be willing to edit past scam reports, though.

 

I think it's worthwhile pursuing for any businesses affected. These links actually have a very negative effect on our business, because people viewing them often have very little understanding of imposters, and many times don't even read the contents of the post. They just see the title and use that to make their decision.

Considering the titles are blatantly incorrect (R2PLEASENT IS A SCAMMER) and are hurting our business, I think they should ABSOLUTELY be editable.

 

Yeah, for anyone heavily market involved, these can have a negative impact on their business.

I think that they should be removed upon request.

 

PM an admin, if they were proven fake they will remove them but I don't think they remove reports regarding hackings or anything you were actually involved in but for imposters they would probably delete it.

probably should have better measures regarding electricity outages.

Better measures regarding electricity outages? They're completely unpredictable. Please provide me insight on your idea for a procedure to deal with electricity outages.

Anne went as fast as she could to rectify the situation. The title is completely inappropriate, and does not accurately represent the situation. I am not a scammer, he was not scammed.

Agreed r2p, especially as the majority or reports on large users are imposters, with the rest typically misunderstandings.

 

Well hold on, as I do entirely see your point of view on this however years ago before I pardoned, giddy handled a report on me that he deemed invalid but Corey later looked at it and found it was actually a valid report.

I guess what im potentially saying is staff could easily miss something and the contents of a report either valid or invalid could be used in a future report.

That all being said I agree with Roary in the sense that a tagging system or new archiving that automatically tags reports as archived or dismissed could be something more beneficial but I am extremely against deleting threads or changing titles.

 

Understood on that, but the problem is that if you are a legitimate trader on Sythe, especially one with a business that exists outside of it, you should not have to bear the bad PR from customers who fall for imposters *which appears on search engines regardless of the validity of the report.

It is a very specific problem, but a problem nonetheless. If thread titles are used that heavily for searching, then the thread titles should be made accurate at a glance.

 

Dave brings up a decent enough point.

A solution would be to create a new section for invalid scam reports and make sure it's not crawlable by google(or just make it like the staff lounge, in that you need mod privileges to view it) - which is easy enough, but still searchable through vbulletin. not hard at all, problem would be applying that retroactively.

 

I guess my suggestion is something along the lines of this, however I still think those should be accessible by google.

@Xier0, the reason I'm against the whole thing even when it comes to imposter scams is there was a case with a user who was a $100 donor, I forget his name but regardless a report came up and it was rules as an imposter but like 2 months later turns out someway it was found out that he owned that imposter skype and used it himself.

It's scenarios like that which make me believe that there should be two types of archives. One for "handled" and one for "dismissed" and thus if they are automatically tagged as such when archived, the report will say [Dismissed] R2pleasant Scammer

Changing the title to [RESOLVESD] on request works fine, no meed to complicate it
