I believe in balance, though whether or not that belief affects the realm of spirituality (karma/universal justice included) I'm not so sure.

If you're a piece of shit, you can expect people to act hostile and for bad things to happen to you. However, many people in the world are pieces of shit and live in luxury. Most of the countries in Africa have extremely corrupted government officials, all of whom live terrific lives and end up on their death beds happy and without regrets. Where's the karma there?

Looking at it from a logical perspective, there's no way karma can exist, as humanity is insignificant on the universal scale. So is morality, religion, and everything else we believe in. Why? Because humanity was nothing but a stroke of luck. We're not better or higher than an animal. So would you say that animals experience karma as well? Don't argue that karma should exist based on our intelligence, because our intelligence is irrelevant. We do not gain any rights, privileges, or special flower status upon becoming sentient. All we know is that we are self-aware, and we carry the same "need" as all other life forms, which is simply to reproduce.

tl;dr karma cannot exist because we're just not important enough for the universe to give a shit

That is an extremely convincing post. I do have a religion but as for karma this basically put my chance of ever believing in it to the ground.

PS. I read the whole post.

I believe in coincidences, and that's what karma is. Irregular circumstances show that karma is a made up concept. Good things can happen to anyone, and bad things can happen to anyone, but when bad things happen to bad people, the concept is used to justify the course of action.

The only 'universal justice' is metaphysical justice. That is, if you deny reality, you don't last long in it. If you deny that there are cars on the road when you cross, you will potentially get hit by a car. If you deny that you have an allergic reaction to nuts when you do, you will probably die as a result of anaphylaxis. Any belief that does not conform to physical reality will be punished. On to Karma, there doesn't seem to be any empirical support for it; yes, if you're a 'bad' person you may not be treated well in the future, but that is not grounded some metaphysical justice, but rather that people don't treat disrespectful, 'bad' people well.

I believe in a concept similar to karma, called kafirah. You reap what you sow basically. Do good, you'll get good, do bad, you'll get bad. It all comes back to actions (along with intent).

Moved since OP contains no argument.

I believe in it in the sense that if you're kind to people they'll generally remember it and reciprocate and if you're a dick to people they'll remember it and not help you out if you ever need it. I don't believe in the karma that's this magical force that does the world's justice that some people tend to refer to it as, or at least that's what it seems like they mean.

Karma in a spiritual sense? No. It's nonsensical to suggest that two or more completely unrelated events can be tied together by nothing more than an arbitrary moral code.

Morals and ethics are arbitrary. You define them. What is good to you might be evil to someone else, thus the concept of "universal justice" makes no sense.

Karma in terms of how you treat people on a social scale is a different matter. Being good to people is more likely to have them treat you the same way in return. In other words, acting in certain ways can manipulate how others feel about you, which in turn may produce favourable outcomes.

Yes, but also sometimes good things happen to bad people and bad things happen to good people. Anecdotes are not evidence of the existence of karma.

If you count both "hits and misses" so to say, you'll probably find you've had more "misses". Our brains are just more likely to count the "hits".

I'd like to think there is such thing as karma, but in reality, it just does not seem the case. It just is a belief and idea there to make yourself feel better and that those who done wrong will get theirs in the end. That is always not the case and sometimes, bad and selfish people do get away with horrible things.

It is common sense that if you show love, peace, and respect to everyone, you will not have any problems at all. Still, anything can happen and you can't predict when and where.

This is the same as the "he/she was in the wrong place at the wrong time" philosophy.

There was a guy once at the duel arena on Runescape.
He flicked options on body/legs and I still won.
I called it a karma loss.

Was probably just a coincidence though.
