Which cover letter is better? [Accounting][Paypal :p]

I need advice on which letter is better. The issue is, my friend took 2 years off from accounting, and wanted to fill it with a casual letter, but the proffesional one seems better, can someone please give me some advice? or even compose a letter between the 2? I just really need help!

One's proffesional and boring, and doesn't cover the last 2 years off from work
The seconds casual, and doesn't fully explain all strengths but shows character.

If someone writes an exceptional one combining the 2, I'd also be willing to pay $5 VIA paypal. If someone can go even further and improve the reusme and cover letter together to syncronize, I'd pay $10

Personally I see no issues in both letters. It comes down to preference of which you rather use.

Homework can be interpreted as work or study that's done in preparation. The thread is more fit in that sub forum.

 

Where's he looking to get a job at, and how old is he? A cover letter should be one page, and the first one is far too short. The second one is pretty much a resume... not sure where you'd send this unless you really know the person you're sending it too... and the third one looks like an experience section of a cv. Also your friend is fucked if his introductory sentence is

 

That was kind of the whole issue, one's too serious and copies the resume, other's too casual and non-professional, persons age 40 & looking into typical accounting positions for someone who isn't cpa/cga yet

Errrr... isn't 40 a little late to be getting a CPA if he's been in the field for 15 years?

 

As a cover letter, the first one split into 2 maybe 3 paragraphs if a little more is added would be alright. Other two are just repetitions of the resume, and just redundant in my opinion.

 

Not really, boredom and being in the same place causes people to change I guess, my friends mom went to be a cpa at 52, people just do it because they want to for themselves I suppose not my place to judge tbh

I know, they both have issues and I'm terrible with cover letters LOL so I thought I'd ask sythe for structure etc =p just wanted actual opinions

 

No one uses sincerely anymore change it to "Very Respectfully"

 

Honestly you're best off taking this to someone irl. I would help you with it if your friend were 20, but I just don't know anything about people with more advanced careers applying for jobs. At the lowest level, though, make sure your grammar is correct. And sincerely is definitely better than very respectfully lol.

 

They actually did go to a place that does cover letters and ended up with the copy of the resume (2,3) and sending 2 resumes seems stupid IMO, I guess I'll just ask them to find another place
