Given the market dominance of chrome/firefox, anyone who had applications designed solely for IE probably weren't doing well to begin with.

thank fuck, now my retarded college will be forced to update their browsers, hopefully to chrome. Nobody should have IE forced upon them when chrome is out there, especially students at college.

Thank god, about time that shitty browser stops being developed.

Yes let's all change over to Chrome so we can have all our activity uploaded... talk about privacy.
I moved to Firefox years ago, haven't looked back since.
Tell me more about this Windows 1997.

Smart move tbh. The Internet Explorer name is associated with a crappy browser so it made no sense to come with new versions of it. So it may just be a marketing move, but we'll see

I'm sure Spartan will be the same "Free for the first year" that Windows 10 has labeled on it... Will be a wonderful surprise when they hold everything hostage.

Yeah, doubt it. Unless this browser sucks your dick and gives you lap dances, why would any pay for an internet browser when Chrome and Firefox are free and have add-ons that do pretty much everything a browser needs to?

Well it was my first Internet browser I ever used but I don't really have anything good to say about it. IE was slow, annoying to use and crashed more than often. I'm just happy no one needs to touch this thing any longer.

I grew up on IE but I made a permanent change for Chrome when I was about 14. IE was slow compared to Chrome and the interface was a bit bland for my liking.

The way a browser works is that it's a renderer with a "frame" overtop of it. The IE renderer is called Trident, the Chrome and Safari renderers are called "Webkit" and the Firefox renderer is called "Gecko".

Making a renderer is not easy, especially not directly from scratch to compete with other renderers. What Microsoft will probably do is a discrete rebrand, where they change the GUI/frontend of IE and simply update the shit out of Trident. So, it'll really just be IE 12 with a new skin. That means that all applications designed only for IE (old Silverlight apps, etc.) will still work with Spartan.

    That's just my speculation though.

I'm wondering how reliable that source is.

    http://www.pcworld.com/article/2863...ter-more-flexible-than-internet-explorer.html

That said IE will still be around, but it's a month old and Microsoft could have changed their minds by then.

Interesting to hear from you after you invaded my privacy, denied it, then said you didn't do anything wrong or harmful. Talk about hypocrites. Would you like my skype chat history with anyone else or was n4n0's enough for you?

There's no chance that would happen, especially for a browser that would try to compete.

It is, but the one on December didn't mention Internet explorer getting axed, it only that Microsoft were working on Spartan.
