We don't have this problem in Australia.

Actually a pretty decent video to summarize things. Yeah, tipping makes no sense, but, as mentioned, old habits die hard in America. Even the difference being in Canada, where they bring around those electronic tippy things, is hugely noticeable.

I'm assuming you are in Canada. I would like to know how it works up there if you don't mind sharing?

Tipping someone is a good thing. Some people make more money off their tips than what their job pays them. Also some people depend on tipping for their monthly expenses.

Usually, I give the waiters 10-15% tips of the bill to show them how great they were serving me. Sometimes I give 5% tips minimum if it was a bad service. It is pretty much depends on how the service goes.

Tipping is not really a big deal to me, but when the bill goes well into the hundreds it really adds up T_T

Yes I agree with the video. Just add it to the food cost

I agree with you in a way. But why should I have to pay other people's bills. The company they work for should have to, hence why they work for them.

I do agree with the tipping for larger groups. I know a few restaurants in the U.S. Do it. P.f. Changes for example. But when I see things like "we need more people so I can pay my car bill". It really bugs me

I always tip about 15% for waiters/delivery people because it can get really hectic and people can be really fucking disrespectful to you.

So, one time i used to feel bad because I always wanted to tip at 20% because my mom was a waitress for years and she never had money. So one night i went to steak n shake and she told me my shake would be half off because happy hour (2am-4am) and i ordered at 1:52. She told me it would be half off and when I went to pay, she made me pay full price and I said well you said it would be half off. Then she told me it was ordered early, so i left her no tip and I didn't feel bad, because she lied to me. So fuck tipping. unless they are really nice.

If restaurants abolish tips while increasing prices, you still pay the same amount of money. Tipping ensures you decent service, or a way to "vote with your dollar" as it were.

Ohhh, this is so true. People should see it this way. I always tip, more for good service, less for bad service but I tip nonetheless.

I once ate at a Shanghai grill place if anyone is familiar, got 150$ bill between 3 people and its required to tip and i tipped 20$ and it was for mothers day, i took my mom out and paid for it all blah blah, but i left and just 20$ bill flashed before my eyes and i wonder what that money would've done for me if it stayed in my pocket..

Tipping at restaurants is annoying. You give the tip after the bill so it's not like you're going to get better service, unless if they know you maybe.

so true, but you tip on how your service was. so say you normally do 15% and they are bitchy drop it down to 10%, if they take forever drop it to 5%. or just stiff them
