Be sure to improve the point counting or make it more clear that you have to do it yourself.

 

That's not really how it is.

A lot of the time the same people that are community oriented enough to join CDT are also a good fit for moderators. I mean recently there was Jack Goff and I Bleed Duke Blue promoted who are both CDT members.

Also you only see mods post the OP, handle the holiday accounts, etc. So I can see where you'd get the impression.

 

terrible.

i won a mini rank and was told to reply with dicing a number in pm, so i did. no response almost 20 days later even though i pmed 3 times.

the gaming event sucked. in the op it was originally 3 games, only two were posted and the second game was posted really late.

no one replied to my questions on the decorating event, so i wasn't able to participate.

the scavenger hunt was a joke, you guys had to make fixes to it after we already spent time trying to figure it out and the last answer was laughable.

0/10, sucked major ass lol where the fuck is my mini rank anyways

for every one bitching its a lot of work to do some thing like this during a big holiday when most of the mods would like to be spending time with there family shit happens. i'm happy the sythe team even made a effort to do stuff with the community at all ..seeing as some people are a bunch of ungrateful ......

 

New CDT is what is needed

 

Mate. They tried to put on a fun event for the Christmas holidays. Seems like your spirits haven't stayed lifted for very long.

It's a community event, for fun. You're being like the Runescape player who starts flamming people when he didn't get an item at a giveaway.

 

Minirank hasn't been added by sythe/matt yet will be handed out ASAP

 

Games were mine. I was told by Cas to remove the third game because it would take too long.

I missed a game by 3 days because it was Christmas. I have a life.

 

I only ended up with 2 entries
I played the game, did the spin, deco comp, and karaoke but only received 2 entries(which was standard for karaoke entry). I only did it so i could get the xmas minirank, yet somehow I missed it even though i did more than enough events for it.

 

Like I said on the main thread a few times, all entrants who had 3 or more entry points were automatically deduced 3 points for the minirank

Do you have suggestions for other things that we can actually do to get the message out there? I guess we could sticky the threads, but most of us just glance over them 99% of the time. I tried advertising in sythechat but that didn't get very far. Half of our focus was "GET THE MESSAGE OUT THERE," and I find it hard to believe that anyone moderately active on the forums during the weeks we were advertising could have missed things. But do correct me if I'm wrong!

I brought this up recently in CDT land, and there are in plans in the next month to expand operations. I think we're all excited about what they will entail, but I can't tell you more since I'm not the one handling things .

The fixes we had to make were because the forum wasn't displaying user profiles correctly; that's entirely out of our hands, and we fixed things within a few hours of noting the problem (s/o Heeatz). It just happened that that day was the only day of the year when you actually had to care about what people had in their profiles, and fwiw, the clue for that one was double-posted in Zippy's introduction or feedback thread, I forget which.

The last clue had to be changed. Originally, I wanted to edit the text that appeared when you join sythechat, "NoAskingForModActions" or whatever, but higher-ups who could have given us that privilege weren't online to approve/deny it so we had to change it. And the two-letters-instead-of-one/not numbering clues was to prevent people from guessing the answer after only completing a few clues; 8 clues, 9 letters, etc. Iirc people could skip around in the halloween scavenger hunt, and that defeats the challenge of it.

Really depends on the event. For something like this, we decided on what to do maybe 3 weeks in advance, and we all did our parts individually with a few days to spare for editing/comments/etc. For a SM issue, it's shorter time-frame, for a contest like pool, it's one or two people and they can whip it up in a day or so.

 

I'd like to know if I'm on the list to receive a minirank. I think I only had 3 points which was for the minirank, but I got 2 draws in the pot.

It was my first time doing a Sythe Christmas Event and despite the fact that I joined 9 years ago (wasn't very active since I only went on Sythe when I wanted to buy PIN memberships as a kid/adolescent), it was quite enjoyable; thanks again to the CDT and everyone else who made this seasonal event lively!

 

well in that case i guess it's fine and i didn't realize you guys auto put our points in for the mini rank. that being cleared up the only problems i have are no response to questions that were posted on the decorating thread and no response to the pm's i sent

 

So what your saying is after the clues were put up nobody went to go check they all matched the order and were properly placed???????

Have you ever run a scavenger hunt before?
Do you know how obviously frustrating it is to get a simple ass clue and spend over an hour looking for it to only find out the game wasn't even setup properly?





The rest of the event went great. I don't like the idea of the dice rolls.
Also thanks to whoever tallies up everything. I bet it's a lot of work and I understand if not everyone gets the correct amount of points
