Perhaps the instigator may just be people fighting over space as overcrowding becomes a problem. Perhaps the overcrowding may lead to reduced hygiene standards and a mutation of an existing virus runs rampant and eliminates a lot of the population?

With the population continuing to grow at an exponential rate it is going to be a problem. The issue surrounding it is there's not really any ethical ways to deal with it. Even China's policy of 1 still causes a myriad of problems.

 

Read an article a while ago basically calling overpopulation a myth. It was showing how basically everyone in the entire world could fit in full sized houses, with public buildings, parks, and roads, very comfortably within just the state of Texas.

Explaining how at the current exponential birth rate it'd take quite a damn while for things to become an issue. Then you have things such as war, disease, etc to kill people off.

Food production also becomes more efficient. If the demand rises the price rises and that means people will be looking to make more food faster, etc.

 

'Food shortage' is just a symptom of poor governance. To call food shortage the problem is just buying into propaganda, the real problem is poor governance, through the existence of red tape, corruption and central planning.

Imagine if the title was 'Government's mismanagement of the factors of production are leading to a global food shortage'. What would we be likely to talk about now, how to increase the productivity of the 'food system', or how to correctly manage the presently mismanaged factors of production? We would talk about both, yet we are only talking about one, and this is solely because nobody wants to recognize the fact that the real problem lies with governments interference in the market.

Yes, there is a growing population, and thus yes, the demand for food will increase. It doesn't take an economics major to workout what is needed to solve the 'problem'.

Exponential doesn't have to refer to x^2; x^1.02 is also exponential.

 

Honestly this is a serious problem the solution of which could be found only by further scientific research.

 

I don't believe over population is going to be a problem any time soon. People just blow things out of proportion.

The food shortage will fall heavily on the impoverished. This isn't a food shortage crisis, it's an issue of people who can't don't have the means to support many children populating quickly.

 

Maybe that's how everybody thinks and that's why it's becoming a problem

 

i don't think it's food shortage, it's that there is no money, the poor are very poor, the rich won't help. look at all the food around you, there is plenty. is it shared equally? no.

 

Lol dont believe this. Read somewhere the worlds population would only fill half of australia if all put there. There are as many articles saying that food shortages wont happen anytime soon as the ones saying it will. And 15 years really lol, dont believe it.
