Christmas Traditions

Is there anything you do yearly for Christmas and the season? For my family the big event of the season is putting up the Christmas tree. We cook tons of snack food like sausage rolls, meatballs, samosas, chips, nachos, etc. and decorate the tree with Christmas movies playing.

I've heard of some pretty interesting stories of people going out to cut down their trees, or maybe have a yearly game they play.

Anyone have some interesting traditions related to this season?

 

Well I only see my parents 3-4 times a year but for the past two years me and my dad go to the bar in my home town and feast on wings and drink beer until we are pretty drunk if that counts we do this on the 23rd so on the 24th we literally just sit and sleep in all day.

 

Well I'm Australian for one, so I'm not sure if our Christmas is different from Americans etc.

But my family usually gets together and because it's summer here in Australia, we usually go camping together. Usually there is about 30-40 of us, and we take out eveything we need. Then spend 3 days out camping and having a blast.

All kids usually sit around the massive fire and open up presents Christmas morning, and the day usually consists of fishing, motorbike riding and so on.

Most of us parents/adults are usually just getting drunk and socialising.

It's and every second year thing we do. Otherwise we're all usually with our own families for Christmas for a small gathering.

 

Truthfully I find it ridiculously hard to consider Christmas in Summer months. Really neat though that you celebrate the same holiday in a completely different climate though.

 

For my family, we would usually get a xmas tree 1-2 weeks before xmas starts and light it up and decorate it. On xmas eve, we would get together with the external family for a nice dinner and go for candlelight service at church which would be around 10.30-12midnight. So we would always be in church when xmas day hits we hang with friends and stuff before heading home
