Anti Vader Mods

As you all know, the amount of vaders on Sythe is growing and a lot of the markets are full of people just trying to scam. Today I was minding my own business when two people messaged me on Skype to MM them a trade. It turned out that one of the people in the trade had added the person he was trading with on another Skype than his own. He used that Skype to pretend to be me.

I did some research and found out this guy wasn't just a scammer but a vader.

My suggestion is to create a new moderator. That is the "Anti-scam Moderator". These Moderators would only have permission to temporarily ban people. This could be for maybe just 1 hour, 2 hours or have a cap as these wouldn't be normal Moderators.

My idea behind this is that I posted my report 3 hours ago and there has been no reply and he is still able to roam freely through the forums.

I am not saying that the Sythe staff are lazy, as we all have lives away from Sythe. I am just suggesting this to help this site become a more trusted place.

The problem with implementing an anti-scam moderator but having their reports reviews/refereed eliminates their use entirely. what would be the point. I have long though this a valid suggestion, but who would want to deal with x scam reports all day? It could also lead to more mods being even less active in dealing with these reports themselves. None the less, there is room for something like this here.

 

That's like saying "What normal moderator would want to deal with scam reports all day?" in my eyes if someone accepted a rank and didn't do what was needed while they were on, they would have that rank removed.

 

Lol no.. You would still have to make a report to get them banned anyways. Essentially, you want more mods? Even then that wouldn't stop ban evaders.

 

Just a reminder
We moderate in our free time, thats first
We do it for free, thats 2nd
and finally last thing is none of admins will give mod perms to random people, even if its just 1 hour ban.

 

But its a common theme with the staff here that doing the scam reports/spam reports is the boring part of the job, and at the moment they are simply taking to long to deal with them. I can't see anyone else (other than Yousuck) dedicating all their time here to only the scam section.

It's more so to either a) get more mods or b) get rid of some mods that aren't quite up to par.

I understand all of these points. That is why I thought of this idea. You wouldn't give this out to untrusted people, the same as you wouldn't give a Moderator rank to untrusted people. This would be a way of letting the staff sit back a little more than what you guys can now.

 

Wouldn't really work with the quota system that's established for moderators.

because if we were to establish any sort of mod fix, we'd need both some out and some in. Personally don't think its at a good standard at the mo

 

Mods can add point infractions which will acrue to a ban if they feel a scam report is valid and sythe.org members are at risk and don't have the power to ban already.

Maybe there's no room for new mods? There aren't any applicable candidates to replace current staff?

I would say it's definitely an 'or' type of thing.

 

There was a point where it was 5 pages. 3 hours is nothing.
I appreciate the moderators and the work they do for this site which is on their free time


There is no way your suggestion would be approved.
It's on the dns list. Basically what your asking is to give some mod perms to non moderators. Or asking for more moderators to be implemented.

 

Well if you do one then you can do the other.
