through PM. He sent me the code at 7:22 PM according to the PM mark, then he got banned at 7:25 PM by Dave here http://www.sythe.org/showthread.php?p=14157499#post14157499

He got banned right after he sent the code, but I still have the code now... So what happens now?...

 

If he gave you the product as needed why not? Unless your counter scamming in which case get a moderator to back you

If he was banned for scamming put your payments towards those scammed.

If you started a trade without finishing it, you have to finish it for it not to be seen as a counter scam. It doesn't matter if he got banned or not.

 

If he was banned for scamming, you could ask for a counterscam, benefiting the victim of the scam.
I'd advise you to contact Dave, or any other global as they can decide what to do with it.

If there was no scam, you'll have to go through with the deal, because it would technically be scamming to not go through with it after you've received the goods.

As far as I'm aware you cannot scam someone simply because they are banned for scamming. Pay him.

Think of it as scamming someone off-site who is banned for scamming on Sythe. Their report would still hold weight if it was filed against you.

 

This. I'd suggest waiting for him to make contact with you. If he ends up pardoning and the money you were gonna give to him ends up going to the scam victim, does he still have to pay the full amount of the scam amount, or the portion that's left over?

 

He got in contact with me. We just agreed that I wouldn't use the code. Case closed I guess?...

 

Not actually sure about that. Probably just what's left over, seeing as having someone technically overpay for a scam they committed hasn't happened in the past.

If he agreed with that then you're good to go.
