User-suggested titles and mini-ranks

Hello,

Given on this forum titles are in my eyes the coolest little feature on the user interface, it would be firstly, nice to see them become more available. your average sythe user will most likely never attain any, even after being part of the community a few years/having 3k+ posts. These titles could be fun, with some more serious/reputable, a bit like mini-ranks. I'd like to see a thread in the sandbox where people can submit titles and mini-ranks (with them having created them so reduce the hassle of implementing these) and the idea behind them and how to achieve these. They would obviously not be 'give to me' type ranks, and the approval system would need to be pretty strict (only pick the very best, with a great idea/goal) to avoid everyone kicking around with 12 titles.

The titles would not be trade-able, but the mini-ranks could be if that was the general consensus.

This was just a short, to the point idea where maybe some other forumers could weigh in with further suggestions on how this would work, but I think it would be neat.

Youre 2 months too late on the minirank suggestions. I would however support the availability of user ranks becoming somehow more available.

 

oh that's my fault, I've never seen that thread before. This thread was though however more prominently talking about suggested/availability of titles, so yeah that part still stands.

 

User ranks are fine with their current availability, they aren't supposed to be readily available to the average user

 

I'm not saying readily available, you obviously need to work for them, but your options are the moment are donor and mod really. The other ones I've no idea, but again they don't look obtainable.Why can't we have more like the member of the month type, they don't have to be permanent.

 

It's a practical idea (regarding user titles). I came up with a system that would sink miniranks at the same time that only requires the perms of an admin. The odds of it becoming a reality are slim.

 

Custom usertitles are a privilege/reward, not to mention you receive titles from post count anyway.

 

I'm in support of some custom user-titles, but they'd have to move donor perks around. Sort of blows already that my $100 only gets me yellow words.

As for ranks, no. Cracker head must maintain its rarity so that when I achieve it, my awesomeness will not be dulled in any way.

 

Sounds like a bit of a pain for Matt having to constantly approve them... but if they're automatic or something, sure. What did you have in mind?

Also, you're not talking about things like "cool cat" and "mudkip" are you? Just UTs?

 

this thread was made with your cracker head dream in mind, I remember seeing it a while back when I signed up lol.

I'm interested to know what type of titles you guys would approve of and disprove. the main idea was some monthly, some permanent on here which were actually obtainable, as mentioned above cool cat etc I have no idea how to obtain and that's kinda silly. I'd like genuinley obtainable ones I could work towards, for example.

Fun ranks are not handed out lightly, but can sometimes be won in competitions.
(Halloween last year Heaatz won a Zombie fun rank)

They are meant to be rare and hard to obtain.

I don't see this changing in the forseeable future, so I'll close up this thread.
