Addiction?

Ive only been playing league since June of this year, but I am absolutley addicted to this game. Ive never been this addicted to a game in my life...even runescape. What the hell makes it so addicting? And is this something since i just started playing or does the entertainment die down? Any others that were addicted early on in their career?

 

I am still addicted and i played it since late beta 5+ years ago.
It does die out however, it just depends how angry you will get, if you get angry at all per losses.
If you enjoy the game and play for fun, you can easily be addicted to it for a long time, especially with the ranked queue.
If you have friends that stop playing though that will influence you to stop as well, so try to have a lot of friends on your friendslist that you can play with, irl and non irl friends.
Build up many friends, and have nice talks to them : P

 

I played a fair amount for a few years but I stopped enjoying the game as much. The beginning was definitely the best as I rapidly progressed and it was fun to improve, especially in comparison to my friends.

After hitting mid-high diamond 1 it was just a huge grind and stopped becoming enjoyable tbh. I didn't have any motivation to get to challenger.

In general though I get really into most games that I play and want to be the best at them. Though, I don't really have any new "addictions" since league. I got into Hearthstone and got Legend and have been entering melee tournaments but thats about it.

 

Yeah I started mid season 4 and now Im addicted too. I just bought Darius and he is so OP.

But yeah, honestly ive spent hundreds of dollars on RP and skins.. tbh kinda regretting it too... What can i say? im also addicted.

 

Lol, like I said I just recently started playing, already have about 40 skins....spent approx $120 on RP.

As for the addiction, I think for me it came from my irl friends playing with me through lvl 30, and telling me I as actually better than some people they know that have played for a year or so. Then after that, making Silver 5 and then climbing to Silver 2 just before the season ended made me feel really good about myself, and know I was pretty good in the short time I've played.

It's addicting because of how immersive each game is. You need to be very focused to CS and you're typically very active each second of the game.

 

You get bored eventually, after a while you realize every game is the same.

 

Its addicting because of how much you concentrate imo.

 

Try to limit yourself if you think the addiction is a bad thing

 

I never played LoL but I notice that a lot of my friends are really addicted to it as well. I guess the thrill you get from it is the biggest when it's completely new for you since you discover a lot of things. But from my own experience it always dies down after a while and then you look for new things.

 

I'm same way, use Darius most every game. Otherwise, I'm doing Jungle w/ Warick, Fiddlesticks, or Shyrvana.

I tried it out LoL, but I stopped because the game wasn't really for me.

As for why it's addictive, I think it's because it's competitive. A lot of progression too, so they just want to improve and get better.

 

I have to agree with a lot of you, the addiction comes from the competitiveness and progression in the game. They don't even have to make a new map or anything to keep it fun. Like Farcast said, each game is different.

 

its addicting because you want to constantly get better and improve. and carrying is extremely satisfying.

 

League was absolutely amazing when I started. I had no clue what I was doing and just playing was so fun because I constantly improved. Now, that excitement of a match has definitely worn off to an extent, but it's still fun to play.
