Searching for Advice of a Mod/Admin

Hello, im here with a bit of a problem right now.

2 Weeks ago i've sold my Runescape account to: RyanL2709

So within a week i got pmed on skype by him "Hey man you stole the account, give me it back"
So after a long argue i recovered the account for him and Jagex messaged me that they were suspecting me of selling the account and would take access if i would try recovering it again.

So now as on today, he messaged me AGAIN, saying that i stole the account and that i should give it back to him.
I told him that i can't recover the account anymore, and last time we spoke he said he'd take full responsibility of the account or anything that would happen to it.

I also noticed, that within a few days he tried selling the account on eBay, suspecting thats the reason he wanted me to recover it?

What date did he ask you to recover it/when did you recover it?

 

He asked me to recover it on 14-11-2014 thats the day i recovered it, i did it within a hour

 

Do you have a Skype convo of him requesting that? With the Skype profile beside the conversation please, if possible (right click his avatar > view profile).

[11/14/2014 10:47:38 PM] Alex Pedder: Thought id let you know, since you have decided to hack the account back, you have 3 days to send the money back or return account details, i have contacted the anti fraud online corporation, and send the details of our transaction, they have told me to speak to you and give you three days to do the above, if you chose to ignore this i will take matters further and look to seek legal action through compensation and prosecution,also will be forwarding the details on to jagex leading to your account being banned, i have all the details i need so either way unless you send my money back is that your in trouble, and without an account, if you do not believe me check online for the corporation and check how much you can be fined and i will be compensated, suits me either way its just this is quicker, so make your mind up my friend, i wouldn't mess with a law graduate, thank you

 

It's hard to show if he sold it on then requested the recovery, that's the thing. The safest bet, and what I'd do, is return his items and refund him the cost price of the account. It may be possible for you to sell it on in future safely, without causing suspicion to Jagex, then if he potentially sold it on; he has the cost price which is owed to that third user and you're not involved.

Logically, that's what I'd do. Alternatively you could return it to him.. but should it be locked - it's a gray area as to whether you'd be responsible to refund. So therefore you're probably better off refunding and having the account than refunding when the account is totally locked.

 

They messaged me in the email, that if they'd suspect me selling the account again, they'd take access away from it, if i'd give the buyer his money back, i'd be sitting here without a account since the day i gave him the account back i changed the email + password again, that would just make me lose a account and him going away with nothing.

 

It's an odd situation, I've never seen an email like that.

 

I can proof you the email is legit by sharing screen on skype or what ever, i've added you on skype.

 

I'll get back to ya. Just wanna make sure we have a consensus on this kind of situation if similar ones come up.

 

Return the details to him, if it gets locked beyond recovery then it's not your responsibility.

 

I've contacted jagex, ill be updating on how the situation will go on.

Been almost 2 days now, haven't had a reply yet...

Checked my junk folder to, i suppose Jagex is ignoring me now and might of taken the account.

The buyer of the account hasn't spoken to me the last 2 days

 

No reply from Jagex yet the account has gained experience in the last 24 hours, so prolly a attempt to scam
